James Simms' Will.
I, James Simms of CC, am of perfect, sound mind and memory. Firstly, I want my debts and funeral charges paid.
To my son Joseph Semmes - a tract of land called Amendment,
containing 200 acres. Also a tract of land called Semmes amendment, containing 44 acres. Also a Negro man named Aaron, and half my stock and household furniture, and 1 set of Blacksmith's tools.
To my wife Mary Semmes - a Negro girl named Ruth, during her natural life, and afterwards, Ruth and her future increase to my son Thomas Semmes, forever. I also give Mary a Negro woman named Philliss and the remaining half of my stock and household furniture.
To my grandsons Joseph Semmes and Robert Doyne Semmes and my granddaughters Ann Simpson and Mary Semmes - 1 shilling sterling each.
To my son Joseph Semmes and my son Thomas Semmes - a tract
of land in Prince William County, Virginia called part of Walkers tract, containing 260 acres, to be equally divided between them.
