(Linda Reno: Legatees: Elisabeth Mueld [should be Mudd], Elinor Miles, Barbary Frasier, John Low [should be Lowe].
Executor: Mr. Joseph Hatton. NOTE: The Legatees named above are the grandchildren--each received a gold ring worth 10 shillings. (PG Co. Accounts, 1698-1726, Vol. I, Page 158, image 103, Family Search, LDR).
Linda Reno Research Notes:
You probably assumed that the grandchildren William Hatton was referring to were the same he named in his will. I would have too if I hadn't been on the hunt for Barbara Frazier which led to these finds.
The four unnamed grandchildren of William Hatton named in his will:
Elizabeth Mudd (nee Lowe). Wife of Henry Mudd.
Eleanor Miles (nee Lowe). Wife of _____Miles.
Barbara Frazier (nee Marbury). Wife of Daniel Frazier.
John Lowe. This was John Lowe, Jr.
Elizabeth, Eleanor and John Lowe are named in their father's will. Their mother was obviously a daughter of William Hatton. But was their mother Rebecca? Another child--Rebecca (Lowe) Hagan wasn't named…why not? My guess would be because she was grown and married. Alice isn't named either, but she could have been dead by then.
