      Unto my daughter Mary Grose ten shillings, she having been formally advanced by me.
      Unto my daughter Elizabeth Searle ten shillings, she having been formally advanced by me.
      Unto my daughter Sarah Smith ten shillings, she having been formally advanced by me.
      Unto my daughter, Ann Hawkins ten shillings, she having been formally advahced by me.
      Unto my grandson Covington Searle a Negro girl Floreereserving to my daughter Eliza Searle the use of the said Negro during her life. -
      Unto my son Richard Covington all my tract whereon I now live.
      Unto my son Francis Covington the plantation whereon he now lives with as much land nearest thereto adjoining as will make 200 acres.
      To my son Francis all that my tract in Southfarnham Parish on the branchee of Gilson's Creek.
      Unto my sons Thomas and John Covington all the remaining part of my land in St. Ann's Parish on the branches of Occupatia Creek to be equally devided
      If either of my sons Francis, Thomas or John should die without issue his part of land shall be equally between the survivor of them.
      My loving wife Ann Covington have her right of dower in this my dwelling plantation and my seat of land purchased of Tandy on the branches of Gilson's Creek.
      All my Negros, stocks of cattle, hoggs and other kinds and all my houshold goods be equally devided amongst my loving wife and my sons Richard, Francis, Thomas, John and my daughter Winefret Covington.
      My son Francis and daughter Winefret take their estates immediately after my decease.
      My sons Thomas and John receive their estates when they shall attain to the age of eighteen years.
      My son Thomas and John Covington be under the care and tuition of Thomas Waring untill they attain the age of eighteen years.

      IN THE NAME OF GOD, Amen, I WILLIAM COVINGTON of Essex County being sick and in a weake condition but of sound mind and perfect memory praised be God for all his Mercies towards me, and more especially for giveing me liberty to depose of that wch: itt hath pleased God to bestow upon me so intend this my last Will and Testament. First and foremost I give and bequeath my Soule unto the protection of the hands of Almighty God my Saviour and in the next place my body to be decently buried at the Descretion of my Executor hereafter menconed
      Imprimis, I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son, WILLIAM, all my land to him and his heires for ever, but if my said Son should dye without issue, then my said land fall to be equally divided betweene my Sons, RICHARD and THOMAS, and to them and their heires for ever;
      Item, I give unto ELLINOR CORPE, Wife of JOHN CORPE, one Cow to her and her heires for ever

      Imprs: I give & bequeath unto my Daughter, CATHERINE YOUNG, the full & just sum of Fivetie pounds Sterling to be paid about Twelve months after ye sd CATHARINEs Marriage;

I give and bequeath unto these five (my Daughters) ANN COVINGTON, SARAH MOTTRAM, MARY CONTANCEAN & CATHARINE YOUNG all that money & goods of mine that lies in England or elsewhere out of Virginia to be equally divided betwixt ye sd Daughters, & likewise Twenty four thousand pounds of sweetscented tobacco & caske to be equally divided betwixt them and paid by my Sonne, WILLIAM YOUNG, at Eighty thousand per annum and that ye whole payment be ended or compleated within three yeares: And furthermore tis my desire that my four sd. Daughters (out of ye production of ye monies & tobaccoes aforemenconed) do contribute buy & deliver unto MARY, the Wife of RICHARD CARTER, a Negro either man or woman according to her own election & acceptacon and this is to be paid & compleated within three years after my decease
      Item I give and bequeath all ye rest of my estate both personal! and real moveable & immoveable unto my said Sonne, WILLIAM, and his heirs forever, he paying & dischargeing ye afore specified Legacies

      - The Deposition of WM: LEADER aged 40 yeares or thereabouts being examined & sworn saith That on ye 10th day of October there happened a difference between GEO: PARKE and RICHD. COVINGTON about the charge of money. RICHD: COVINGTON requested Capt. SMITH to hear his complaint he told him he should bring it at a more proper time the sd COVINGTON insisted that it was then a proper time; Capt. SMITH refuseth would have gone home, ye sd COVINGTON calling him back several! times giving the sd Capt. SMITH several! reproachful) degrading and undervaluing words; the said Capt. SMITH biding him several! times hold his peace or else he would break his peace; R. COVINGTON daring of the sd Capt. SMITH wth: more abusive language then before telling of him he was as good a man as he, the said Capt. SMITH coneingly and frequently desireing him not to dare him to quarreling for he did not desire it (but the said COVINGTON not withstanding) held his horse by the bridle and would not by civil entreaties let the hors goe, ye sd Capt. ANTHONY SMITH was upon his horse and his Daughter behind him going in the ROAD homeward, your Depont: saw Mr. RICHD. COVINGTON follow him & catched him twice by the Coat and did villifie and abuse the said Capt. SMITH uttering base, scurrulous language (vizt) thou are a foole, thou art a pittifull sorry fellow, a Rascal', come down Serrah and I'le bang thy Packet; I care not a trd: for thy authority whereat Capt. SMITH returned to ye company and commanded the Kings peace, the sd COVINGTON replyed saying thou command the Kinges Peace thou are a fool, by which authority doest thou command the peace, then Capt. For £39. 2400 acres in St. Ann's Parish granted unto Thomas Pannell, deceased, 4 Nov. 1673. Thomas Pannell by his last will 11 May 1676 bequeathed all his lands, goods and chattles equally to his wife Katherine Pannell and his three children Wm., Mary and Isabella Pannell and to the child she then went with.

Farnham Par., son and heir of Major James Boughan late of said Par., deceased, sell to Thomas Gouldman and Edward Gouldman sons and Devisees of Edward Gouldman late of St. Anns Par., deceased, land, acerage not shown, "Whereas the said Edward Gouldman by purchase from one William Williams a certain parcel of land granted to Collo Richard Covington; Major James Boughan and the sd William Williams, by Patent Dated the 25 day of April 1704", in St Anns Par. This land formerly granted to Thomas Pannell Decd by Patent 4 Nov. 1673, and afterwards granted to Covington, Boughan and Williams, having been lost by Pannell for want of seating. The land was partitioned between the said Collo Richard Covington of the first part, and Major James Boughan, Benjamin ffisher and James Boughan Junr. of the second part, and the said Edward Gouldman (who had purchased Williams' share) of the third part, by deed the 9th August 1708. recorded 10 Aug, 1708 in Essex Court.
      And whereas Collo Richard Covington and Major James Boughan, by deed, 11 Aug. 1707, between William Pannell, son and heir of the said Thomas Pannell, deceased: Francis Stone and Mary his wife Daughter of the said Thomas Pannell, of the one part, and Richard Covington and James Boughan of the other part, for £39., did purchase the interest of Wm. Pannell, Francis and Mary Stone.
