1775-1803 British Mercantile Claims
Claims of sundry British creditors, received 3 Oct. 1800 [Page 72-73 ] :
Wm. Golding, Orange. £2.17.0, due Glasford, Gordon & Co., Fredericksburg Store. He now lives in the upper end of the county on the Albemarle line and is very able to pay his debts. He says he tendered the whole of the balance to Alexander Blair, factor for the creditors, in 1776 in paper money before it had experienced any depreciation, which he refused to accept. He is now and ever since has been ready and willing to pay the debt but no application has been made to him for it nor does he know to whom he can pay it.
