      Will of James HAGAN
      In the name of God Amen.. I James HAGAN of Charles County in the province
      of Maryland being infirm of body but of sound and perfect memory do now make
      this my Last Will and Testament as followeth...INPRIMIS I bequeath my soul
      to God that gave it, my body to the earth after my decease to be decently
      buried at the charge of my estate and discretion of my executor hereafter
      named...
      ITEM I will that my just debts and funeral charges be first paid...
      ITEM I nominate constitute and ordain my loving wife Elizabeth HAGAN and my
      loving grandson Edward HAGAN whole and sole executors of this my Last Will
      and Testament to whom the said Elizabeth, my wife, I give and bequeath the
      plantation I now dwell upon with two hundred acres of land joining thereunto
      also a tract or parcel of land called "Hagan's Strife" during her natural
      life and after her decease to my loving grandson Edward HAGAN to him and his
      heirs forever..
      ITEM I give and bequeath unto my loving son William HAGAN all the
      remaining part of my lands or tracts I now hold to him and his heirs
      forever, also I give and bequeath unto my said son William HAGAN one negro
      man named Peter after the decease of his mother...

      On the 2nd Tuesday in Nov, George Dent, Gent, Sheriff, brings into Court here the body of James Connell, who was committed into his custody on the 3rd instant by warrant from Robt: Hanson, Gent, a Justice of this Court, as a runaway, travelling without a pass, and also on suspicion of having stolen a Negro man called Jack, belonging to Thomas Hussey Luckett, and a woman servant named Mary Churchwell belonging to William Hagan of CC, the same conveyed out of Maryland and there sold and disposed of, sd Negro and woman servant. Thereupon it is ruled by the Justices here that the sd James Connell enter into recognizance in 60 £, with his sureties in 30 £each for his appearance here at next Mar Court, to answer the premises, for defect whereof, sd James, present here in Court in his proper person, is committed into the custody of the Sheriff. Afterwards, James, by the Justices of the Court here, from the commitment last afd, is discharged, paying the Court fees.
      Nelm Randall appears here, according to the tenor of his recognizance, taken before Robt: Hanson, Gent, that is to say, himself in 10 £together with his Mainpernor, Thos: Hussey Luckett, in 5 £, for his appearance here to testify for the Proprietary against James Connell. Therefore he and his Mainpernor afd, from the force of the recognizance afd, are acquit.

      There is, in my possession, a small bright bay mare, which I have carried before Walter Hanson, a CC Magistrate, as a stray, trespassing upon me. Whoever owns the mare may have her again, upon proving he property and paying all charges.
