      DENT, TOWNSEND. Townsend Dent, son of John Dent and Margaret
      Dyson, was born on January 25, 1776, in Charles County, Maryland.
      He migrated to Rowan County, North Carolina and married Mary
      Hightower in May, 1797. In 1816 he was one of the constables of
      the county (Ref: Harry Wright Newman's Charles County Gentry, Page 94-95 (1940).

      John Dent's Final Account. May 29, 1779,
      The account of Margaret Dent and Hez'a Dent, administrators of John Dent, late of CC, deceased.
      Debts include: the Inventory of the deceased's estate, exhibited into Orphan Court on Nov 21, 1778, amounting ro 480 £11 shillings 1-1/2 pence; 138 £9 shillings 1 price found in the deceased's house; tobacco made the year the decd died. The whole amount: 451 £8 shillings 41-1/2 pence.
      Disbursements went to Doctor Gustavus Brown; Benjamin Cawood for assessment for 1777 and for 1778; Walter Hanson, Register, for Letters and for recording Inventory and for stating, passing, and recording this account. Balance accountable: 438 £8 shillings 3 pence.
      Final Account: 451 £8 shillings 4 pence. Securities: Oliver Burch and Peter Dent of New Port. Representatives: Widow and 9 children, viz, Ann, at age, Thomas Hatch, 19 years old next Jul 23, Rebecca, 14 years old last Dec 2, James, 12 years old last Jan 15, Catherine, 10 years old last Mar 15, John Babtist, 8 years old next Jun 1, Esther, 6 years old next Nov 6, Townsend, 3 years old last Jan 25, Aaron, 1 year old last Mar 2.
