      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I HANNAH SHERLOCK, Widow, the Relict and Administratrix of JAMES SHERLOCK, late of Virginia in parts beyond seas deced, by these presents doe make and appoint Mr. WILLIAM ROBINSON of RAPPAHANOCK RIVER in Virginia my true and lawfull Attorney for me and for my use to ask demand and receive of out of the possession of the Court in Virginia or out of the hands of any p:son whom it doth or may concern, all moneys, wares, merchandizes, effects & Estate whatsoever of which the said late JAMES SHERLOCK died possessed and do of right now belong to me in my capacity aforesaid; by these presents granting unto my said Attorney my full and absolute power in the premises holding firme all my said Attorney shall lawfully doe or cause to be done in or about the premises; In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the twentieth day of January in the eighth year of the Reigne of our Sovereign Lady Anne by the grace of God of Great Brittaine France and Ireland, Queen defender of the faith, Annoq: Domini 1709

      - TO ALL TO WHOM these presents shall come, We Sr. SAMUELL GARRARD, Baronett. Lord Mayor and the Aldermen of the City of LONDON send greeting; Know ye that on the day of the date hereof in the Queens Majesties Court holden before us in the Chamber of the Guildhall of the raid City personally came and appeared WILLIAM SCOREY of LONDON, Notary Publick, being a person well knwon and worthy of good creditt and did by solemn oath which he took upon the Holy Evangelist.; of Almighty God, before us and solemnly declare testifye and depose to be true that he was present and did see HANNAH SHERLOCK, Widdow, the Relict and Administratrix of JAMES SHERLOCK late of Virginia in parts beyond the seas deced, seale and as her act and deed deliver the within written Letter of Attorney by her given to Mr. WILLIAM ROBINSON of RAPPAHANOCK RIVER in Virginia for the uses and purposes therein contained, In Faith and Testimony whereof wee the said Lord Mayor and Aldermen have caused the Seal of the Office of Mayoralty of City of LONDON to be hereunto putt and fixed dated in LONDON the twenty first day of January Anno Domini 1709, And in the eighth year of the Reign of our Sovereigne Lady Anne, Queen of Great Brittain &c.

      THIS INDENTURE made the third day of Aprill in the yeare of our Lord God One thousand seven hundred and foure Betweene WILLIAM ROBINSON of the Parish of CITTENBURNE in the County of Richmond within the Colony of Virginia, Gent., and FRANCES his Wife (onely Daughter and heire apparent of SAMUELL BLOOMEFIELD, late of the County of RAPPAHANNOCK, Gent., deced) of the one part and JAMES SHERLOCK of the Parish of FARNHAM in the County of Richmond and Colony of Virginia aforesaid, Gent., of the other part. Wittnesseth that the said WILLIAM ROBINSON and FRANCES his Wife for the summa of Ten Shillings of Lawful! money of England to them in hand paid by the said JAMES SHERLOCK have sold unto the said JAMES SHEROOCK all that tract of Land or woodland ground containeing by estimation Three hundred acres be the same more or less scituate lying and being in the Parish of CITTENBURNE and County of Richmond aforesaid, and bounded as followeth, that is to say, begining att a small red Oake which parteth it and another parcel of Land purchased of Mr. WILLIAM UNDERWOOD by FRANCIS TRIPLETT, running thence West South West one hundred and sixty poles to a great white Oake, thence North sixty three degrees Westerly two hundred sixty eight poles to two red Oaks, thence East and by North three quarters Northerly three hundred and twenty poles to a Chessnutt tree by a Swamp of APPAMATTOX CREEKE, thence South East and by South halfe Southerly two hundred poles to the place it began & all wayes waters timber trees and trees likely to become timber, profitts and appurtenances to the said premisses belonging and the reversion and services thereof, and all the Estate right and demand whatsoever of them the said WILLIAM ROBINSON and FRANCES his Wife to the same, To have and to hold the said parcel! of land unto the said JAMES SHERLOCK his Exrs. Admrs. and assignes from the day next before the day of the date hereof for and dureing the terme of one whole yeare from thence next ensueing and fully to be compleated and ended, yeilding and paying the rent of one pepper corne att the Feast of St. Michael the archangell next comeing if the same be demanded which said grant is so made to the intent and purposes that by virtue thereof and by force of the statute for transferring uses into possession the said JAMES SHERLOCK may be in the actuall possession of the said parcell of land and may be thereby enabled to take a grant release and confirmation of the Reversion and Inheritance thereof from the said WILLIAM ROBINSON and FRANCES his Wife to him and his heires to the use of him the said JAMES SHERLOCK his heires and assignes for ever. In Wittness whereof the parties first above named interchangeably theire hands and seales have sett the day and year. first above written

      - IN PURSUANCE of a Commission from his Excellency FRANCIS NICHOLSON Esqr. his Maities Lieut and Governor Genll of Virga: bearing date the 11th day of Novembr: 1701, this Court hath sworne and admitted Mr. JAMES SHERLOCK, Clerk, of this Court, he haveing taken ye Oathes appointed by Act of Parliament to be taken Instead of the Oathes of Allegiance and Supremacy. And subscribed the Test, And itt is ordered that he do wth. all convenient expedition take into his possession all the Bookes of Record and Papers & all other Bookes whatsoever belonging to this Court in the Custody of Capt. RAWLEIGH TRAVERS and Capt. THOMAS BEALE, Exrs. of Mr. WILLIAM COLSTON deced, or any other person
