      IN YE NAME OF GOD Amen ye Eighth day of October in ye yeare of our Lord God 1698 I JONATHAN GRILLS in ye County of Essex in ye County of Virga: being very sick weak of body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto God, I do make & ordaine this my last Will & Testamt. in manner & forme following, That is to say, first & cheifly I give my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me and my body I comend to ye Earth to be decently buryed in Christian buryal at ye discretion of my Ex:Ex; nothing doubting but that at ye general' resurrection I shall receive ye same againe by ye mighty power of God, as touching my worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I give & devise & bequeath ye same in manner & form following that is to say; I give unto my Loveing Daughter, ANN GRILLS, one tract of land containing One hundred & twenty acres lying in ye FOREST in ye County of Essex afore- sd., one Mare of three years old, a good young Cow & calfe, a solve Pigg, a flock bed & blankets & rugs & bolster, three pewter dishes, a pott & pott hooks, six spoons, a payle, a frying pann, two plates & a Porringer, a sifter & two chairs ye sd things to be truely paid out of my Estate unto my said Daughter, ANN, at ye age of Sixteen years or day of Marriage, but in case she dyes before my Wife, then what I have in land or goods I leave unto my Wife, ANN GRILLS, & her heirs but in case my Wife dyes and she leaves my Daughter & her two Sons, FRANCIS & WM. PEIRCY, then all my land lying on PISSCUTTAWAY CREEKE & goods to be equally divided betwixt them & their heirs lawfully begotten of their own bodyes & in case either of them dyes without issue then it is my true intent & meaning that ye longest liver of them shall have is remaininge of my Estate reall or personal' to them or him or their heires forever
      Item. It is my will that my said Wife, ANN GRILLES, after my decease shall have ye liberty to remaine on ye sd Plantacon of PISCATAWAY CREEK as long as she lives & to have use of ye sd household goods Stock provided that she payes my said Daughter the sd Legacies that are above menconed And of this my last Will & Testamt. I make my beloved Wife my full & sole Ezex. & I do hereby revoke & annull all & every other former Wills legacies bequests & Exers. by me otherwise beforenamed, willed & bequeathed ratifying & confirming this & none other to be my last Will & Testamt.       KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I JOHN GRILLS of the County of Rappa: in Virginia being intended God willing for England and minded to settle my land and Plantation upon my now Wife, ANN GRILLS, that is to say, One hundred acers of land I bought of Mr. JOHN PIGGE of NEW KENT COUNTY adjoyning upon the land of WM. YOUNGE lying upon RALPHS CREEK in PISCATAWAY in the abovesd. County of Rappa: which sd land I hereby freely give and assigne unto my Wife, ANN GRILLS, and to her and assignes for ever from me after my departure out of Virginia with the proviso nevertheless that the Person named JOHN HINDES now a Tenant upon the sd land for seven years shall hold the interest he hath by Agreemt until his said time be expired and for further confirmation of this Deed of Gift to my sd lovg. Wife I hereby oblige myself to make a full and free acknowledgemt. of these presents as my act and deed in the sd County Court of Rappa: to the only use of my said Wife her heires and assignes for ever In Witness whereof I have sett my hand and seale this 2nd day of August 1687

      ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT made and concluded on by & between JONATHAN GRILLS of Rappa County on the one part & GILES YOUNGE of County of NEW KENT on the other part as followeth, First the sd JONATHAN GRILLS for the reasons & consideracons hereafter expressed do hereby consent and agree to take to live with me the sd GILES YOUNGE upon my Dwelling Plantation being in Farnham Parish, in County of Rappa upon or neere PISCATAWAY CREEK from the day of the date hereof for and during the whole terme or our Naturall lives and the life of my Wife, ANN GRILLS in consideracon whereof its mutually agreed by and between me the sd JONATHAN GRILLS & me the sd GILES YOUNGE that all and all manner of Estate both real and personal] of what nature or quantity soever shall be deemed and taken and is hereby fully concluded and consented to be deemed and taken that is to say that is now or at any time hereafter to belong to us two aforenamed to be a joint and equall interest & have a Copartner ship in during the whole terme of our respective natural (blank) from this present day and all the produce of our two respective labours to each other in equally propocon until' it shall please God to make seperacon by Death which if it shall happen that I the sd GILES YOUNGE should die first of us two aforenamed that then and all whatsoever I shall be worth or posed with all shall imediately descend & come unto the sd JONATHAN GRILLS and his heirs of or the survivour of them & their heirs & to them forever and if 34 JONATHAN ORILLS and my Wife should die before the sd YOUNGE that then he the sd YOUNGE shall inheritt and enjoy every part and parcel! of Estate reall and personall that then belongs to us or either of us & to our heirs unless wee should leave any children begotten on our bodies and then such to have an equal! part with him and it is further agreed that (if by any disturbance arising between us two aforenamed either of us shall take occasion to be seperate himself and go away during the terme aforesd then such person or us so differeing and dissenting shall on request have delivered unto them any equall part of the whole estate real & personnall and for the more performance of all & everything and matter herein contained the sd persons aforenamed do hereby enter into the penalty forfeiture of Five thousand pounds of good Tobb. and cask each other to one another severally to be paid by him that shall make the first breach of any part of the same upon demand to the party so damnified. Know yee that I ye sd LORANEY TAYLER for divers good causes and valuable consideracons me thereunto moveing and espicially for Six thousand pounds of sweet scented tobacco and One twenty five foot Dwelling House twenty foot wide in hand paid, have sold unto JONATHAN FISHER of KING and QUEEN County Two hundred and fifty acres of land be it more or less lying in Essex County bounded beginning at a Corner tree on ye South side of PISCATAWAY CREEKE at ye mouth of a Little Creeke called RALPH CREEKE, and running by a line of marked trees South South West to JONATHAN DRILLs PATH and West along ye PATH to ye ROWLING ROAD, and so along ye ROWLING ROAD to THOMAS COOPERs Plantation to ye back line, and soe West North West to ye dividing line of Mr. SAMUELL PAREY and so along ye dividing line to a Little Creeke called Mr. SAMUELL PARRYs CREEKE, and so down the Creeke to PISCATAWAY Maine Creeke and so down ye Maine Creeke to ye place it first begun; which said land was formerly taken up and pattented by Mr. SAMUELL PARREY deced bearing date ye Seventh day of February 1652 and by him sold to Mr. ROBERT YOUNG by Deed bearing date ye 7th day of December 1653, and WM.
