      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I LEONARD HOWSON do owe & stand justly indebted for a valuable consideration in hand reced to Mr. MATHEW KEMPE his heirs Exrs. & Admrs. the full sum of Two hundred pounds lawfull English money & four men Servants to be paid to the sd MATHEW KEMPE his heirs the which payment to be made I bind my selfe my heirs firmly by these present. In Witns whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seale this 10th day of May 1661 and in the 13th year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord Charles the second.       Whereas I Mathew Kemp am possessed wth a certain Tract of land containing Four hundyed and fifty acres which lands were assigned to me by MATHEW KEMP Esqr late of Kingstone Parish in County of GLOCESTER deced And knowne to bee a parte of Six hundred and fifty acres of land granted unto Mr. JAMES BONNER deced by Pattent dated the 19th day of October 1653 and by the decease of ELIZABETH BONNER Daughter to the said Mr. James Bonner the Four hundred and fifty acres part of the said Six hundred and fifty acres was forced to Escheat to his Most Sacred Majtie. and Accordingly by Sr. HENRY CHICHELEY Ent. his Majties. late Deputy Governr. of Virginia granted unto the aforesaid Mathew Kemp Esqr. dated the 20th day of Aprill 1682 which said Tract of Six hundred and fifty acres of land first granted by Pattent to Mr James Bonner is being on the South side of the Rappahannock River formerly accounted and known to bee a part of County of LANCASTER but lately and now called and knowne by name of Middlesex County and the said land is by the aforesaid Pattent bounded on the Westward side by a Divident formerly belonging to THOMAS DALE and on the Eastward side by a Tract of land heretofore appertaining to GEORGE WADDING deced And whereas I the said Mathew Kemp of Middlesex County for a valuble consideration of two English Servants and two Negro slaves. alienate and sell unto Mr. JOHN MANN of the aforesaid County of Middlesex late deced and to his heires the abovesd tract of Four hundred and fifty acres of land and the said Mr. John Mann deceasing before he had received from me any Confirmation of the Sale of the said lands to him or his heires either by Deeds or otherwise moreover Whereas said Mr. John Mann deced did by his Last Will and Testament dated the 15th day of Aprill last past give and bequeath unto his Sonne JOHN MANN Three hundred acres of the said lands being on the East side of Bonners Creek as by the said Will relation thereunto being had Know ye that I Mathew Kemp of Middlesex County for the valuable consideration above mentioned do hereby acknowledge all the said Servants and Slaves does discharge the Sonn of the said Mr John Mann deced his heires and by these presents doe grant unto him the said John Mann Son of the said Mr John Mann deced all my right unto the abovesaid Three hundred acres of land being a part of the said Four hundred and fifty acres of land granted by the abovesaid Escheet I do covenant wth. said John Mann Son of the aforesaid John Mann deced that at the next Court holding for the County of Middlesex I the said Mathew Kemp will personally appeare before the said Court and according to usuall custome shall in the hands of the Clerk of the said Court or his Deputy surrender and acknowledge by this writing to the use of the said John Mann
