      THIS INDENTURE made the 10th day of May in the year of our Lord God 1665 Between HENRY WARD of the County of RAPPAH: of the one pte: and RICE JONES of the same County of the other pte: Whereas JOHN APPLETON of the County of Lancastr:, Mercht., by his Deed Poll dated the first day of May 1664 did bargain sel & convey unto the aforesd, HEN: WARD one p:cel of land containing 1000 acres formerly taken up &patented by Mr. MILES DIXON being deserted then taken up & patented by the abovesd. JO: APPLETON as by a Patent more plainly doth appear bearing date the 15th of May 1661 scituate lying & being in the County of Lanc: being bounded upon the land of JO; HAWARD & lying Wly, from the land of the sd HAWARD on the S: side of Rappah: River and on the N:E: side of the GREAT SWAMP, S: by S:W: upon the GREAT SWAMP & NI: toward the BAY OF THE CLIFTS, N:W: into the woods & SI: down the Neck; To have & to hold the sd devident of land forever. Now Know yee that I the sd HEN: WARD for & in consideracon of the sum of Eight thousand pounds of tobo: & ca: to me in band paid by the sd RICE JONES at & before the sealing & delivery of these p:sents have granted & confirmed unto the sd RICE JONE the sd devident of land wth; all the appurts: whatsoever that was late in the tenure & occupacon of the sd JO: APPLETON & now in the tenure & occupacon of the sd RICE JONES together wth: all priviledges & appurts. wt:soever thereunto belonging, the sd p:mises being lately sold unto the sd HEN: WARD by the sd JO; APPLETON; To have & to hnld the sd Devident of land & all other the p:mises wth: the appurts: unto the sd RICE JONES his heirs & assigns forever in as large & ample manner as the sd p:misses were granted unto the sd HEN: WARD in & by the sd Deed Poll, the sd RICE JONES from henceforth yeilding & paying all rents & services due for the same and the sd HEN: WARD his heirs do agree that he now have in himselfe & in his own right ful power & lawful authority to sel the sd p:misses and that it may be lawful for the sd RICE JONES his heirs at all times hereafter quietly & peaceably to hold & enjoy the sd p:misses wth: the appurts: by these p:sents granted wthout: the let vexation trouble contradiction or denial of him the sd HEN: WARD his heirs or any p:sons wt:so:ever And that free & clear & freely & clearly discharged or else upon any request at all times hereafter well & sufficiently saved & kept harmles by him the sd HEN: WARD his heirs & from all former or other grants made or done or to be made or done by him the sd HEN: WARD his heirs or assigns or any other p:sons wt:soever and that the sd HEN: WARD shal at any time hereafter upon request of the sd RICE JONES his heirs acknowledge these p:sents in the County Court of Lan castr: when he shal be thereunto required In Witnes whereof the p:tie abovesd. to this Indenture have set his hand & seale the day & year above written

      KNOW ALL MEN that I HENRY WARD make my Loveing Friend CUTHBERT POTTER of Rappa my true and lawful! attorney to ask and demand all such sums of porke and Tobaccoes as are due me by Specialtys from severall persons so indebted & co act to all intents in as full manner as I my self might do if present hereby confirming the same In Witness I have sett my hand & seale this 20th of May 1663
