      My will is that my son-in-law Jno Martin go free and be for himself and that he have the tuition of my son Peter Johnson until he be twenty years of age alwaies Provided that the said John Martin give my son Convenient Education and Maintenance and take no ill Courses wherein if he falters in any Respect my will is that my executor James Jackson to take my son Peter into his Guardianship and that he remains with my executor the terme aforesaid. All my estate to my son Peter Johnson to remaine in the custody of he that keeps my Child Care being taken to pay my debts. Executor my friend James Jackson.

      Peter Johnson, 600 acres in the county of Warrisquicke, on the south side of Warrisquicke creek, and abutting upon Nansemond River. Due 100 acres by surrender from John Day (to whom it was due for his personal adventure and the transportation of one servant); 150 acres by surrender from Ambrose MEADOR (to whom it was due for his own personal adventure, his wife and one servant); 150 acres due for the transportation of three servants and 200 by surrender from Gabriel Wilson (to whom due for transportation of four servants). June 1, 1636.
      Under this patent the persons named as "headrights" are Peter Johnson, John Day, John POWELL, Ambrose MEADOR, Gabriell Wilson, Jon. Baker, Anne Sharp his wife. This patent was renewed by Sir John Harvey in the names of Robert Brassuer and Peter Rey. Teste me, Thos. Cooke. Cl. George Salisbury, 500 acres in the county of Warrisquick, northeast, on Warrisquick River. Due him by order of Court, December 4, 1634.

      THIS INDENTURE made the 10th day of Octr. in the year of our Lord God 1664 Between PETER JOHNSON of the County of Rappa: & Parish of Sittingbourne Planter of the one partie & the VESTRY of the PARISH aforesd on the other party Witnessoth that the sd PETER JOHNSON for & in consideration of the sum of five hundred pounds of good lawfull tobacco in hand received of the PARISH aforesd hath given sold & made over & doth by these presents fully give & make over from him the said PETER JOHNSON his heirs & Successors four acres of land with the appurtenances set lying and being in the Parish aforesaid & on the South POINT that maketh the mouth of a Creek called OCCUPACY & to be laid out as neer as may be Square on the sd POINT the same to have and to hold from the date hereof for ever & further that the sd PETER JOHNSON his heirs or assignes shall & will before the last day of November next or sooner if thereunto lawfully called by the PARISH or VESTRY of the same make & execute or cause to be made a good sure rightfull perfect absolute & lawful! estate in the Law of the said land to the only proper use of the said Parish for ever with warranty at& all men whatsoever by from or under him claimeing or pretending any claime to any part or parcell thereof.       KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I NICHOLAS CATLETT and ELIZABETH my Wife doe hereby for our selves our heirs &c lett and to farm lett unto PETER JOHNSON his heirs and assignes two hundred acres of land being in the County of Rappa on the South side of the River in the Parish of Sittingbourne about two miles from the River it being a parcell of my part of a devident taken up betweene me and WILLIAM MOSELEY of the same County and betweene us parted and that he shall haire his choice to begin at either end of that my Said part it being in consideration of Five thousand pounds of tobacco and cask and one barrel of Corne in hand received and one calfe to be paid ready down wherewith wee do hereby acknowledge to be fully satisfied and paid and we do for ourselves our heirs and assignes further covenant and agree wth the said PETER JOHNSON his heirs or assigns that he or they shall at all times peaceably and quietly enjoy and possess the same wth all rights and priviledges of hunting hawking fishing and fowling wth all woods waters and water courses whatsoever to me belonging for and during the terme of Ninety nine years wth out the lett hindrance or ejection of us our heirs or any other persons clayming any lawful claime to any part thereof he or they paying as an ackowledgement of one Eare of INDIAN CORNE yearly at the Feast of St. Michael! the Arch Angle it being of him lawfully demanded and he or they paying to our Sovereign Lord the King all such rents and services as are due and I the sd NICHOLAS CATLETT and ELIZABETH my Wife doe further hereby bind ourselves to acknowledge this Deed when thereunto lawfully called in the County Court of Rappa. in confirmation whereof wee have hereunto sett our hands and seals this 23th of April! 1671
