  • Notes
    • === Research notes from Steve Goodrich

Admittedly, Ann is named in the 16 Feb 1656/7 will of Clement Thresh as Ann Goodrich, with no specific statement that Ann; wife of Thomas Goodrich who is also named in the will, is the daughter, Ann (Thresh) Goodrich, of Clement Thresh.

A more convincing piece of evidence can be seen in the superimposed 3-character acronym ATG (Ann Thresh Goodrich) that can be seen in a number of deeds, power of attorney, and other legal records Ann signed or co-signed before she became a widow.

Two of the best and most unambiguous examples of this superimposed 3-character monogram, in which the A, T, and G are clearly and unmistakably visible, are in a deed dated 04 Nov 1668 that Ann co-signed with Thomas Goodrich (Essex/Old Rappahannock County, Virginia Land Records, volume 6, page 9) and a power of attorney immediately following signed by Ann only on the same day (Essex/Old Rappahannock County, Virginia Land Records, volume 6, page 10).
