John A Clarke then of Saint Marys County now of Charles County on the 26th day of October eighteen hundred and thirty five by his deed of Mortgage of that date for the consideration of the rent of a certain Tavern House and Lots for the space of three years at and for the yearly rent of one thousand dollars to be paid by the said John A Clarke to the said Edward Pye his heirs or assigns and for the further consideration of five dollars did grant bargain sell and convey unto him the said Edward Pye his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in Saint Marys County and State of Maryland called and known by the name of Turkey Neck containing two hundred acres more or less purchased by the said John A Clarke under a commission of Partition on the real Estate of Jeremiah Underwood deceased also one negro man named Harry one negro woman named Maria negro Girl named Louisa negro woman named Emma and negro Girl named Martha To Have and To Hold the same to !
the said Edward Pye his heirs and assigns upon the conditions hereinafter mentioned viz that the said land and negroes should be held as collateral security for the payment of the yearly rents of one thousand dollars for the said Tavern and appurtenances and upon the condition that the said John A Clarke shall well and truly pay to the said Edward Pye
