KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we MARY CARTER, JNO: BROOKS & JERE. SHEPHERD are held & firmly bound unto his Maties. Justices of ye peace for Essex County in the just sum of Forty thousand pounds of good sound merchantable tobo: & caske, to the which payment we bind ourselves our heirs firmly by these presents; Witness our hands & seales this 10th day of November 1698
The Condicon of this obligacon is such that if ye above bound MARY CARTER, Admrx. of RICHD. CARTER deced, do make a true & perfect inventory of all ye goods chattells rights and credits of ye sd. deced., & the same so made do exhibit to ye next Court that shall be held for the d. County of Fcsex. and make oath thereto; & truely administer on ye sd Estate according to Law & give a true ascot, when required & pay unto such persons as ye Court shall appoint; then this obligacon to be void, otherwise to stand and remain in full force and virtue

To 5 Stears, 4 heffers, 8 coves, 2 bulls, 2 yerlin bulls, 1 Servant boye three yeares & 4 months to serve, 1 old flock bed & furniture old, & old trundle bed stead; 1 old bed for a Servant and an old rugg; 1 cheast, 6 old cheares, one looking glass, one powdering tubb, a passle of earthen ware, fore trayes, 2 laddles, one flesh fork & candlesticke & a passell of purer; 3 iron Potts, 1 fring pan, a gridiron, 1 box iron, 3 old payles & 1 old meale tubb; 3 shears, 1 old brodax, an old hansaw, & old drawing knife, one old feather bed & furniture, Ye Total! sum 09956 As Wittness or: hands ye day & year above

- Upon ye Peticon of PHILL: PARR as nearest of kin to MARY SMITH, lately deced, its ordered that he take into his care & possession ye Estate of her former Husband, RICHD. CARTER deced, and likewise to take ye Orphans of ye sd deced into his keeping & return a true & perfect Inventory of ye Estate of ye sd RICHD. CARTER deced, to ye next Court upon oath to ye end that it may be secured for ye sd Orphans untill further proceedings may be had herein as ye Court shall think fit

KNOW ALL MEN by these pr:sents that wee HENRY SMITH, JAMES BOUGHAN & HEN: ADCOCKE of the County of Essex are firmely bound unto JOHN CATLETT Gent. President of the said County Court in the sume of Sixty pounds Sterl. to the paymt. thereof we bind ourselves this 11th day of June 1701
The Condicon of this obligacon is that if the above bound HENRY SMITH, Admr. of MARY his late Wife, who was Widow of RICHD.
