      This Indenture made the sixth day of November in the thirteen yeare of the reigne of ye reigne of our Sovr. Lady Anne Queen of Great Britain France & Ireland defender of the faith &c and in the year of OUT Lord God one thousand seven hundred and fourteen Between JOHN WRIGHT of the pish of XChurch and County of Lancaster Carpenter of ye one part and JOSEPH TAYLOE of the pish of XChurch & County aforsd of the other part. Witnesseth that the sd JOHN WRIGHT for and in consideracon of the sum of four thousand pounds of good lawfull tobacco & casque to him in hand paid et secured to be paid the receipt Whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and being part and parcel thereof doth acquit exonerate & discharge the sd JOSEPH TAYLOE his heirs Exors. & Admrs. hath given granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed & confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien enfeoffe and confirm unto the sd JOSEPH TAYLOE to ye uses intents & purposes hereafter menconed one certain tract pr parcel of land situate lying & being in the pish and County aforesd and bounded as follows:
      lying and being on the west side of Corratoman River beginning att a poplar standing by a marsh side known by the name of Snare Swamp Marsh from thence running up the said Marsh & Swamp till it comes to the land of the sd JOHN WRIGHT from then running east northeast by marked trees down the sd line to a line standing about sixty seven foot of the sd line from thence running south throught the devident by a line of marked trees & cedar stakes drove into ye ground made by PETER KILGORE and the sd WRIGHT to the sd poplar where it frist began being by estimacon fifty acres more or less wch sd land is part of a pattent granted to ELIAS EDMONDS and by the sd ELIAS EDMONDS by his last Will & Testament in writing dated ye 4th day of Febry 1658 given to his son & heirs WM EDMONDS and by him the said WM EDMONDS sold unto ALEXANDER REED and by the sd ALEXDR by his last Will & Testament in writing given & devised to his daughter ANNE REED to her and her heirs forever with sd ANNE dying intestate the sd land decended to sd PETER KILGORE sold & assigned unto the above named JOHN WRIGHT party to these presents and to his heirs & Assignes forever all wch Wills & chicly provedd and acknowledged in ye Court aforesaid by the sd Wills & Deeds of bargaine & Sale relacon thereunto the rights profits & emoluments heriditaments incumbrances and appurtenances with all edifices gardens orchards wich all woods under woods timber and timber trees ways water & water courses and other advantages in any wise belonging or appertaining to the sd fifty acres of land or any part or parcel thereof as all deeds writings Escripts & minants wich sd JOHN WRIGHT now hath in custody or can come by without suit in law that any wayes concern the said fifty acres of land and hereby bargained & sold To Have and To Have thesaid fifty acres of land be the same more or less within the said a foremenconed to him the sd JOSEPH TAYLOE wich they trust and confidence nevertheless that it shall & may be lawflu to and for NICHOLAS TORKLESON and ANNE his wife when he occu pie possess & enjoy all and singular the hereby bargained & sold land and premises with their appurtenances & every part and parcel thereof without impeachment of his wast for and during their natural lives or the longest liver of them provided the sd survivor & lives a widow but if other wise she to enjoy her dower and the remainder or reversion thereof to be to TURK TORKLESON son of the sd NICHOLAS TORKLESON and to his heirs & assigns forever and to noe other use intent or purpose whatsoever and the sd. JOHN WRIGHT doth fore himself his heirs Exors. or Admrs. futher covenant & grant to & with the sd JOSEPH TAYLOE that he the sd JOHN WRIGHT and at ye time of ye ensealing & delivery of these presents in himself good right full power lawful and absolute authority to grant & convey ye sd fifety acres of land & premises with their appurtenances unto the sd JOSEPH TAYLOE to ye uses aforesd land the same in manner aforsd shall & will warrant & defend to ye uses aforesd against them lawful' claime or any person or persons whatsoever subject never the less to ye Quit Rents that shall hereafter grow due and payable to the Cheife Lord or Lords of the fee or fees of the pmises by the rents & services due & of right accustomed to be paid and the sd JOHN WRIGHT doth further covenant & agree for himselfe his &c to and with the sd JOSEPH TAYLOE that ye sd land & premises hereby bargained & sold is free and deer and freely and cleerly acquitted exonerated & discharges of and from all former or other gifts grants bragaines sales leases jointures Dowers & Titles of Dower Statutes Recognizances & execucons & all messages of Quit Rents had made committed suffered or done unto he had made committed suffered or done by the sd JN WRIGHT his heirs & assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever claiming by from or under him them or any of them and he the sd JOHN doth further agree that at ye reasonable request and att ye proper cost & charges in the law of them the sd NICHOLAS TORKLESON & ANN his wife and the sd TARKLE TARKLESON his heirs & assigns that att any time within seven years from and after the date of these presents the sd JOHN WRIGHT his Exors. or Admrs. shall make due suffer levie & execute all or any such further acts or acts thing or things device or devices in ye law for the more sure & perfect making and conveying the sd land & premises to ye uses above mentionced as by his or their commit in the law shall be reasonably devised advised or required and finally that ye sd JOHN WRIGHT & ELIZABETH his wife shall acknowledge the same in open Court according to due for me of law and allsoe confess Livery & Seizin.
