      TO ALL XPIAN PEOPLE to whom these prsents shall come, Wee BENJAMINE GOODRICH of the County of Rappae: and ALICE my Wife send Greeting in our Lord God Everlasting. KNOW YEE that Whereas THOMAS GOODRICH of the above said County Gent. did by his Deed of ffeofftment bearing date the first day of January in the nine and twentieth yeare of the Raigne of our Sovereigne Lord Charles the Second by the Grace of England Scotland France and Ireland King defender of the Faith &c. give grant bargaine sell aliene Enffeoffe and confirme unto us the said BENJAMINE GOODRICH & ALICE my Wife all that Tract or devident of land conteyning One thousand eight hundred acres called or known by the name of OLD MATEPANY, And all those Negroes Slaves men & women specified and nominated therein, and to the Survivors of us, and the heires of our bodies lawfully begotten or to be begotten and Sucessively for Ever with this proviso that upon the payment of Five hundred pounds Sterling at any time within the term of Five yeares next ensuing the date of the said Deed, made by the said THOMAS GOODRICH unto us the said BENJAMINE and ALICE my Wife, and said Deed of Feoffmt: to be utterly void to all intents and purposes in the Law, Refference be had therauntn more fully and at large doth appeare. NOW KNOW YEE that wee ye said BENJAMINE GOODRICH and ALICE my Wife doe by these presents acknowledge to have received the said Sume of Five hundred pounds Sterling of the said THOMAS GOODRICH and doe own ourselves to be fully satisfied, contented and paid every part and parcell thereof And by these presents doe Exonerate acquitt and discharge the said THOMAS GOODRICH his heires Executrs. & Administrs, for the same sume; And of and from all covenants, Clauses and agreemts: made and conteyned in the above said Deed of Feoffmt: from us & our heires and Further doe for ourselves and our heires covenant and agree to and wth: the said THOMAS GOODRICH his heires and Executrs; to acknowledge this Deed in any Court in this Collony, and doe Further covenant for our selves & our heires to & wth the said THOMAS to make any other & further acknowledgmt, of the Receipt of the abovesaid Summe or to give or make any other redelivery or rendring up of all our Right or Title; of any thing devised or given to us by ye said Deed unto the said THOMAS GOODRICH or his heires at his or their Request by Virtue by these prsents In Testimonie whereof wee the said BENJAMINE GOODRICH and ALICE my Wife have hereunto set our hands & seales this 15th day of March Anno Dom 1678/9

      THIS INDENTURE made the 25th day of March 1682 and in the fouer and thirtieth yeare of the Reigne of our Soveraign Lord King Charles the second of England &c., Between BENJAMIN GOODRICH of Rappahannock County Gent: & ALICE his Wife of the one part and Collo: JOHN STONE, Lieut. Collo: WILLIAM LOYDE, HENRY AWBREY Gent. and THOMAS GOULDMAN Gent: foure of his Majesties Justices of the Peace for Rappahannock County aforesaid of the other part. Whereas at a Generall Assembly begun at JAMES CITY the Eighth day of June 1680 in the two and thirtieth yeare of this said Majesties Reigne amongst other Acts was made and established an Act Intituled an Act for Cohabitation and encouragement of Trade and Manufacture wherein it was enacted that there should he fifty acres of land purchased by the Feoffees of the severall Counties at the rates therein expressed and measured and laid out and appointed for a Towne for Store Houses &c., for such County at such place and places in each County as is therein sett downe and expressed as in and by the said Act more at large appeareth Now This Indenture Witnesseth that BENJAMIN GOODRICH and ALICE his Wife for Ten thousand pounds of Tobacco in Cask to them paid have granted unto the said Collo: JOHN STONE, Lieut. Collo: WILLIAM LOYDE, HENRY AWBREY and THOMAS GOULDMAN, Trustees appointed by order of the said County Court all that parcell of land containing Fifty acres as it was surveyed and measured the 18th day of October 1680 Beginning at a Point of land by a Gutt by Rappa River running by and nigh the said River South 20 d. East ninety poles to a corner Stake in the Old Field, thence South 70 d. West ninety poles to a Hickory corner in the Woods, thence parallell with the first and second lines where it first began as by a Platt and Draft thereof made by Majr: GEORGE MORRIS, Survayer, remaining upon record in the said County appeareth and given and bequeathed unto the said BENJAMIN GOODRICH by his Father, THOMAS GOODRICH Gent. deceased, who bought and purchased the same from CLEMENT THRUSH and by said CLEMENT purchased of BARTHOLOMEW HOPKINS who held the same with a greater quantity by Patent and all the wages passages landings easemts water advantages and appurtenances thereunto belonging and all the title said BENJAMIN GOODRICH and ALICE in the same and all writings concerning the premises To have and to hold according to the purport and true meaning of the recited Act of Assembly unto the said JOHN STONE, WILLIAM LOYDE, HENRY AWBREY and THOMAS GOULDMAN their heirs from date of date hereof to the purposes in said Act of Assembly expressed In Witness whereof the said parties have tt their hands and seals

      THIS INDENTURE made ye 10th day of December 1696 Between JOHN GRIFFING of Essex County, Ship Carpenter, of the one part & WILLIAM AYRES of the same County, Planter, of the other part; Witnesseth that ye said JOHN GRIFFING in consideracon of Forty pounds Sterling doth grnt unto ye sd. WM: AYRES his heirs & assignes Two hundred acres of Land in the said County of Essex, begining at a marked corner Hickory standing by the line of WM: TOMLIN near the foot of the hill and down the said line East by North to a marked Gum in the Swamp, thence East by South to a marked Hickory, thence South East along the line of JOHN DAINGERFIELD to a marked Poplar standing on the East side of a branch of TIGNORS CREEKE, thence down the said Branch to two marked Oakes on the said Branch, thence South East along the line of JOSEPH REEVES, thence South West to a Spanish Oake corner, thence South West to ye beginning place, all wch. before bargained Land is part of a tract of Land sold by EDWARD SORRELL of JAMES CITY County & ALICE his Wife, Exer of ye last Will &Testament of BENJA: GOODRICH, late of the said County, to the said JOHN GRIFFING as may appear by a Deed of Sale acknowledged & recorded in ye Genl. Court ye 27th: day of Aprill 1695 and likewise by a Deed of Confirmacon recorded in the said Court ye 17th day of October then next following, And all woods, timber & trees being upon the said Two hundred acres of Land or any part thereof and all wayes waters profitts & hereditamts wt:soever to the same belonging; To have and to hold the sd, land and all premisses with the appurtenances unto the sd. WM. AYRES his heirs and assignes forever in as ample maner as the sd JOHN GRIFFING holdes the same by vertue of the above recited Deeds, And the sd, JOHN GRIFFIN for himselfe his heirs loth grant with the said WILLIAM AYRES that he will at any time at the reasonable request & charges in the Law of the sd. WM. AYRES his heirs or assignes make & execute every further conveyance in the Law for further & more absolute assureing of all the premisses unto ye sd. WM. AYRES as by his Comical learned in the Law shall be required. In Witness whereof the said JOHN GRIFFING hath hereunto set his hand & seale
