BEALL, ANDREW, JR., Frederick Co. 4 Jan. 1775 30 Jan. 1775

GAITHER, JEREMIAH. Jeremiah Gaither, son of Benjamin Gaither and
Rachel Jacob, was born in September 11, 1776, in Maryland before
his parents moved to western North Carolina. He married Eleanor
Greenfield, widow of Nicholas Gaither, on January 4, 1793, she
being more than 20 years older. They had a son, Elam Gaither
(1798-1876) who married Amelia Tomlinson. Jeremiah Gaither died
on April 16, 1848, in Iredell County, North Carolina, and Eleanor
Gaither died on October 9, 1850 (Ref: HWN I-79, 80).

GAITHER, NICHOLAS. Nicholas Gaither, son of Edward and Eleanor
Gaither, was born in Frederick County, Maryland and married
Eleanor Greenfield in 1779. He served in the militia of
Montgomery County during the Revolutionary War and moved to Rowan
County, North Carolina prior to the end of the war. He also
participated in the war effort there. His children were: Edward
Burgess Gaither (later moved to South Carolina), Libetious
Gaither, Horatio Gaither, and Walter Gaither. Nicholas died
testate in 1793 in Iredell County, North Carolina. His widow
married second to Nicholas' cousin, Jeremiah Gaither, and had a
son Elam Gaither. She died on October 9, 1850 (Ref: HWN I-118).

Nov 9, 1779 from Nicholas Gaither and Burgess Gaither of M, to Greenbury Gaither of M, for 2000 £, part of that tract of land known by the name of the Resurvey on Mitchells Range, containing and now laid out for about 294-1/2 acres. Signed - Nicholas Gaither, Burgess Gaither. Wit - AEns Campbell*, Joseph Wilson*. Nelly, the wife of the sd Nicholas, relinquished her right of dower to the within mentioned land. Recorded Mar 17, 1780.
