Revolutionary War Record of John Greenwell, Green Co.,Ky. Sept. 11, 1834, Age 74, John Greenwell enlisted in 1781 in St. Mary's Co., Md. under Capt. Sam Juniper for 3 mos., and in 1781 in St. Mary's Co., Md. substituted himself for a man by the name of George Combs for four months under Corp. Richard Barnes. They marched under Capt. John Mills from Leonardtown to Annapolis and came under the command of Capt. Mainger in the 3rd. Maryland Regiment. Born in St. Mary's Co.,Md. Oct. 2, 1760, removed to Ky. 36 yrs. ago. He resided in Green Co., Ky. for the past 32 yrs. Affidavit of Richard Greenwell given same place and time that he was 67 and a brother of the pensioner. John Greenwell was on the East Tennessee Roll of pensions Sept. 27, 1834, later transferred to Greensburg, Green Co.,Ky. Ref; Maryland
