ALEXANDER has in his hands of mine which will be

      This Indenture made this fourth day of April 1767 between CHARLES ALEXANDER of Stafford County Gent. of one part & GERARD BOWLING of County of Fairfax of other part Witnesseth that Char]es Alexander in consideration of rents & covenants on the part of Gerard Bowling to be performed fulfilled & kept doth demise grant and to farm let unto Gerard Bowling all that part of a tract of land called (blank) lying in Fairfax County beginning at a marked black oak standing nenr the main road that leads from Alexandria to four mile run running thence south fifty one degrees West twenty one perches thence south fifty degrees west twenty nine perches thence South fifty degrees West thirty perches thence south seven degrees East twenty perches thence South seventy degrees East to a branch called the whlte uak swamp thence down & with the said swamp to the aforesaid main road that leads from Alexandria to four mile run thence from the said road to the beginning tree now in the tenure and occupation of Gerrard Bowling To have and to hold during the natural life of him the said Gerrard Bowling and for & during the natural life of MARTHA his wife & to the end of the natural life of the survivor of them yielding and paying unto Charles Alexander yearly one ear of Indian Corn if lawfully demanded

Merchant. have sold in plain and open market unto HECTOR ROSS his heirs or assigns the following Negro slaves to wit, Lucy a woman, Nell a woman, Bess a Child. Juba a boy & frank a boy, together with the future increase of said Women, also four feather beds. five Cows and calves, four heifers, five horses and one Mare, all now being in possession of ISAAC ROSE, To have and to hold unto HECTOR ROSS and I said ISAAC ROSE do Warrant and defend all and singular hereby granted against claim of all persons whatsoever
