Apr 2, 1789 from Baker Howard of Montgomery County, planter, to Eleanor Ann Lee of CC, Gentlewoman, for 900 £, and for divers other good causes, all that tract of land in CC, heretofore, on Mar 9, 1725, granted to John Howard as one third part of a larger tract of land called the Three Brothers, which sd part by the grant afd is supposed to contain about 225 acres, but by survey is found to contain 283 acres. Signed - Baker Howard. Wit - Edwd
      Burgess, John Holmes. This deed was acknowledged by Baker Howard and Ann, his wife, in Montgomery County; Ann relinquished her right of dower to the within mentioned land. Brooke Beall, Montgomery County Clerk, certified that sd Edwd Burgess and John Holmes, Gentlemen, were Montgomery County JPs.
      I, Eleanor Ann Lee of CC, hereby certify that although 900 £is mentioned in the within deed, yet the price, by accident not having been precisely known to the grantor when the deed was made, the sum of 900 £was inserted by conjecture, the true and real sum paid for the land being 283 £ Signed [Blank month and day], 179[0] - Elinor Ann Lee.       Robert Sellars and Anne his wife, Robert Thomas, John Thomas, George Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas, Mary Thomas, Sarah Thomas, Suckey Thomas and Rebecca Thomas.

      The object of the bill filed in this cause is that the complaintant and Jane may obtain a complete legal title in 102 acres of land lying in Charles County called "Partners Purchase" stated to have been purchased by Philip Thomas the father of Jane one of the complaintants of Baker Howard the father of John Howard, Hannah now wife of James Trail, of William, Eleanor wife of John H. Simmons, and the husband of Anne now married to Robert Sellars; the bill states that Jane the complaint and Robert, John, George, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Suckey and Rebecca are the heirs of Philip Thomas and that Jane one of the complainants and William Scott on her behalf on a commission issued out at Charles County Court did with the consent of the other heirs of Philip, elect and take the land aforesaid under the act to direct descents and that the said William Scott on behalf of his said wife Jane did pay to the other heirs of Philip Thomas their just proportions of the value which they received in satisfaction of their right to the land aforesaid; it is also stated that the said John, George, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Suckey and Robert Thomas reside out of the state of Maryland; it is thereupon, on motion of the complainants and is ordered and adjudged that they cause a copy of this order to be inserted at least three weeks successively in the Maryland Gazette before the 10th day of September next, to the end of the aforesaid absent defendants may have notice of the present application and the object of the bill and may be warranted to appear in this court on or before the 10th day of January next to show cause (if any) why a decree should not be passed as prayed.
