      To grandson John Hatton Read, provided he is brought up, lives and continues in the religion of the Church of England, and protests against the See of Rome, then I give him the pt. of plantation whereon I now dwell, which adjoins Mr. Plater's land; in case the above-named John Hatton Read shd. embrance the Roman Catholick faith, then I give sd. land to grandson John Read Jenifer. Desire that no Roman Catholick shall possess any pt. of my lands; a slave and etc.
      To grandson Philip Read, under the same restrictions made in the above clause to his bro., remaining pt. of land called 'Orchard Neck, lying on the south side of the line mentioned above, to him the sd. Philip Read, his hrs. and assigns, being Protestants; in case he shd. embrace Roman Catholic Religion, then to grandson John Read Long and hrs.
