Nov 16, 1754 from Dan of St Thomas Jenifer of CC, to Walter Dodson of CC, for the yearly rent of 1000 lbs of crop tobacco & 7 shillings & 1 penny sterling, to be paid to sd Jenifer each Dec 25, the lease to sd Dodson of 2 tracts of land, the one called Dodsons Courage, taken up by John Dodson, and the other called Dodsons Chance, taken up by the afd Walter. This lease is for the natural lives of afd Walter Dodson, William Barton Dodson, & Walter Dodson Jr. Afd Walter and his heirs may cut down and make use of any timber or fire wood for the use of the land afd, provided the sd Walter does not sell or carry away any of the timber or wood. This Indenture made this eighteen day of June in the year
of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and ninety Six Between William Barton Smoot of Thomas and Margaret Smoot his wife Jacob Dodson and Lydia Dodson his wife William B Dodson & Letishia Dodson his wife Ignatious Dodson and Cloe Dodson his wife and Mary Dodson of the one Part of Charles County and State of Maryland and Luke White Barber of Saint Marys County and State afsd of the other part witnesseth that the Said William Barton Smoot of Thomas and Margaret Smoot his wife Jacob Dodson and Lydia Dodson his wife William B Dodson and Letishia his wife Ignatious Dodson and Cloe Dodson his wife and Mary Dodson for and in Consideration of the Sum of One hundred and fifty Pounds Current money of Maryland to them in hand paid by the Said Luke White Barber at or before the ensealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt and payment whereof the Said William (sic Jacob) Dodson and Lydia Dodson his wife William B Dodson and Lydia Dodson his wife Ignatious Dodson and Cloe Dodson his wife and Mary Dodson do hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained sold Aliened enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these Presents do give grant bargain Sell Alien enfeoff and Confirm unto the said Luke White Barber his heirs and Assigns forever all their the said William Barton Smoot of Thomas and Margaret Smoot his wife Jacob Dodson And Lydia Dodson his wife William B Dodson and Letishia Dodson his wife Ignatious Dodson and Cloe Dodson his wife and Mary Dodsons right Interest Title Claim and demand of in and to part of a tract of Land Called Sarum of which Walter Dodson deceased late of Charles County died Seized of lying and being in Charles County afsd and also all their the sd William Barton Smoot of Thomas and Margaret Smoot his wife Jacob Dodson and Lydia Dodson his wife William B Smoot and Letishia Dodson his wife Ignatious Dodson and Cloe Dodson his wife and Mary Dodsons right interest claim and demand of in and to all sums of money to which they may be or are entitled by virtue of a sale of the said Tract of Land with its Appurtenances to be made Pursuant to the last will and Testament of the said Walter Dodson. /s/
