Soul to God, body to earth
to son John Davis, part of tract formerly known by the name of the expectation called "Winters Possession" in Charles County (metes and bounds description), & he to come no further on the north course than the land was laid off to him for 50 acres more or less whereon John Davis now lives
to wife Elizabeth Davis, rest of land, dwelling house, etc., for life; after decease to Sythe (sp?) Basker Davis 50 acres, dwelling house, etc., if she die w/o heir to fall to son Richard Davis's son Matthew Davis;

Charles County Land Record Book A#2, 1752-1756; Page (493). Apr 6, 1756 from Richard Davis, planter, to John Simpson, schoolmaster, both of CC, for 1700 lbs of tobacco and for divers good causes, 50 acres of that tract of land called Bretts Beginning, lying in CC, to be laid off for sd Sympson by sd Davis, on that end of the afd land whereon sd Sympson now dwells. Signed - Richard Davis. Wit - Thos Stone, Willm Eilbeck. Elizabeth, the wife of the sd Richard Davis, relinquished her right of dower to the lands within mentioned. Recorded Apr 18, 1756.

Charles County Land Record Book S#3, 1770-1775; Page 262. Mar 25, 1772 from Richard Davis of CC, planter, to Ozwald (Ozwell) Boy of CC, for 72 £part of a tract of land called Winters Possession, bounded by the dividing line between sd Richard Davis' land and Robert Franklin's land, containing about 64 acres. Signed - Richd Davis. Wit - Dan Jenifer*, G.R. Brown*. Elizabeth, wife of the sd Richard, relinquished her right of dower. Recorded May 16, 1772.

Charles County Land Records 1782-1786; Liber Z#3; Page 260. Apr 18, 1786 from Elizabeth Davis (widow of Richard) of Durham Parish in CC, to Richard Davis of Prince William County, Virginia, planter, for 30 £, all that tract of land in CC, it being all that tract of land called winters Possession, which is bounded by the place where the 2nd line of Oswald Bowie's part of sd tract of land intersects the 1st line of sd land, to the beginning of 50 acres laid off out of the sd tract of land for Sithy Barker Davis, containing 60 acres 2 roods and 18 perches, and also all that part of the sd tract of land called Winters possession which is divided from the part afd described and lies between the lands of Oswald Bowie and John Davis' heirs, supposed to contain 1-1/2 acres. The afd 2 parts of Winters Possession are the whole of the lands that were devised to me by my husband, Richard Davis, decd, during my natural life, and afterwards, to his son, Richard Davis, the presnt grantee.
