      I, William Richards of CC being sick and weak in body thou of perfect mind and memory
      To wife Chloe Richards all the cash I have by which is about eighty four pounds together with all notes of hands that I have by me. Also all sums of money that may appear due me.
      It is my will and desire that my wife shall purchase land for the support of her and my children during her natural life (using the above money and notes) and after her decease to her children including the one she is now pregnant with. If the sums of money are not sufficient to purchase land, then she is empowered to sell one negro man named Nace, one woman named Priscilla, one negro woman named Nan, also my saddle horse.
      To wife Chloe Richards, one third part of the remaining part of my estate and the other part to be equally divided between my wife's children; the one she is pregnant with, my wife's daughter Millie {Russell}, my wife's sons William Francis {Richards}, James Lloyd {Richards} and Walter Heard {Russell}.

      I, Martha Richards of CC, am weak of body but of perfect mind and memory. Firstly, all my debts are to be paid.
      To my son Thomas Richards - 1 feather bed & furniture, 1 hand mill, 1 gray horse called Silve, 1 large iron pot, and 1 pewter dish.
      To my son Caesar Richards - 1 feather bed & furniture, 1 gray mare called Starling, and 1 middle sized shallow pewter dish.
      To my son Richard Richards - 1 Negro girl named Lavina and middle sized deep pewter dish.
      To my daughter Francess Bean - 7 shillings and 6 pence.
      To my 3 granddaughters bearing my Christian name - the best of my wearing clothes, to be equally divided between them.
      To my 4 sons, namely, Thomas, Caeasar, Richard, and William - all my ready cash, with what remains on book, to be equally divided between them.
      To my son William Richards - my best feather bed and furniture and 1 bay mare and colt and all the crop now made or making, and the rest of my estate.

      On the back of this hill of sale was written - CC. I hereby acknowledge that the within instrument of writing was not executed until This day. 1 sold and delivered the within Negro lad to sd William Richards on the 14th day of Jun last past. Henry Smallwood came before me and made oath that the Negro man named Nace, sold by his mother to Mr. William Richards, was, to his knowledge, never given by his sd mother (as Mr. Richards alleges) to her son-in-law, Luke Smallwood, & his wife, or either of them.
