      Charles County Maryland Will Book AF-7, 1777-1782; Page 565. John Smith's Will.
      I, John Smith of CC, am sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory. Firstly, I want all my just debts paid.
      To my son Thomas Smith - the Negro woman named Sarah and one Negro girl named Lett.
      To my son John Smith - all that part of my plantation which he now possesses, together with a warrant returned into the Office for 11 acres, lying in CC. Also, a Negro girl named Luraner.
      To my daughter Rebecca Davis - a Negro girl named Elizabeth, now in her possession, and a Negro boy named Charles.
      To my daughter Jane Smith - a Negro girl named Henrietta, together with a feather bed and furniture, 1 cow and calf, 1 sow and pigs, 1 ewe and lamb, 1 pewter dish and 4 plates, 1 basin, and 1 iron pot, with a loom and long wheel.
      To my wife Jane - a Negro boy, Peter, during her natural life, and at her death, to be given to any of my children which she shall think meet.
      To my wife Jane and my daughter Jane - all my land not already bequeathed, during my wife's widowhood, or the single life of my daughter, and after their death or marriage, to be the property of my son, John Smith.
      To my wife - the rest of my estate, to be enjoyed by her without waste, during her life or widowhood, and after her death, to be equally divided between all my children, namely, Thomas Smith, John Smith, Rebecca Davis, and Jane Smith.

      Probated Nov 21, 1780 by the oath of Jane Smith, the executrix, and by Hezekiah Billingsley and Joseph Wright, two of the witnesses. Thomas smith, the Heir at Law, is said to be out of this State and therefore not present. Jane, the widow, was present at the time of taking the above probate.
