Indenture made March 27, 1780; Peter Gates, planter in consideration of 3 guineas paid by William Rawlings, carpenter has sold part of a tract called "Anchovy Hills" containing 3 acres and beginning at a bounded beech tree standing on the north side of the Aquasco Branch. Signed Peter Gates in the presence of and acknowledged before Thomas Gantt, Jr., Alexander Hd. Magruder and at the same time Jane Gates w/o Peter Gates relinquished her right of dower

1780-1784 Prince George's County, Maryland Land Records Liber FF 1 [Abstract by Mike Marshall]; Page 29. At the request of Peter Gates the following Bond was recorded March 29, 1780
I William Rawlings am held and firmly bound unto Peter Gates in the penal sum of 500 pounds current money this March 27, 1780. Whereas Peter Gates by deed of equal date conveyed to William Rawlings a piece of land whereon to build a grist mill and also for the consideration of grinding all his grain toll free which was not inserted in the agreement. The condition of this obligation is that if William Rawlings shall well and truly perform the additional agreement to grind Peter Gates grain then this obligation to be void.
