DAVIES &ELLENER his Wife doe by these pnts sell unto sd JEFFRY WOOD his heires for ever all that parcel off One hundred acres of land in Stafford County on ye North syde of CHOPPAWOMSICK CREEKE or Maine Runn beginning at ye sd Creeke syde at ye Westermost bounds of one hundred acres of land formerly purchaseth by THOMAS MERRIDETH & in his possession but now in Occupacon of ROBERT HEDGES & runing aloe ge the sd MERRIDETH or HEDGINs his line NE into ye Woods thence W:N:W_ thence S:W: aionge to a line that divides this land 6 the land of Mr. MATH: THOMPSON lately purchased of Mr.. JOHN WAUH & formerly called by the name of SYMON THOMASes land, Downe to ye Creeke syde & finally downe ye sd Creeke to ye first Station according to a late Survey & revision made thereon by Capt.. GEO: BRENT Surveyr for this County of Stafford aforesd which sd land was purchased by ROGR_ DAVIES of Capt. JO. MATHEWS Esqr, by Deed of Sale dated ye 15 of September 1684 & by sd DAVIES given by Will to EDWD. SLAUGHTER his Sone in have & to him his heires for ever & by the sd EDWD. SLAUGHTER sold & made over to ye sd WM. DAVIES as by several] Deeds & Will relation being thereunto had now on ye records of this County To Have and To Mold the said one hundred acres of land to him ye sd Y WOOD

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I ELLINER DAVIES Wife of WM. DAVIES of the County of Stafford doe appoint my trusty & welbeloved friend RICH. GIBSON of sd County to be my Attorney to acknowd. on my behalfe this within written Deed of Sale & for his soe doeing this shall bee his suffitient warrant.. CADSFORD dated 6 September 1654 & by sd Cadsford made over to Mr. HENRY PEYTON Deced by Deed dated 3d day of June 1656 & after-wards granted by Pattent to him ye said HENRY PEYTON ye Mo.. of Novembr. 1657 or wch now or late of Right decended to HENRY PEYTON Ye Youngr Sone of ye sd HENRY PEYTON deced, now of this County of Stafford & by him sold to ROGR. Whereas JEFFREY WOOD made humble suit to this Court that he had faithfully served in the office and place of a Constable for the precinct of Chopawamsick in this County one whole year and did therefore pray that MATTHEW GOSSE might be chosen in his Room and place Therefore tis ordered that the said Matthew Gosse shall serve in the room and place of the afsd Jeffrey Wood in the office of a Constable .. until March Court next ensueing and that MATTHEW THOMPSON swear him accordingly.

      Page 277- 277a THIS INDENTURE made ye Twentieth fourth day of June 1692 Betweene WILLIAM DAVIS of Stafford County and JAMES SMALLWOOD SENR, of CHARLES COUNTY in ye PROVINCE of MARYLAND Gent Wittnesseth that Whereas ye said WILLIAM DAVIS did purchase a tract of lande of JEFFREY WOOD and beinge part & ye Northermost part or halfe of four hundred acres of lande on ye South side POTOMACY. RIVER above a point called COCKPITT POINT the said WM.. DAVIS for ye just Quantity of Seven thousand poundes of merchandable Tobacco to him trusty paid by ye said JAMES SMALLWOOD SENR. hath sold unto ye said JAMES SMALLWOOD his heires & assigner all that aforesaid tract of lande boundinge North on a Marsh and Red Banke, East on or upon POTOMAC RIVER, South alonge POTOMAC RIVER for breadth & West into ye Woods beinge ye just bounties expressed in ye antient Pattent To Have and To Hold ye said Two hundred acres of lande
