      p. 199a THIS INDENTURE Wittnesseth that I WM. MARSHALL Son of THO: MARSHALL late of ye County of Stafford doth putt & binde himselfe an apprentice unto SAMPSON DARRELL of ye said County Marrinr. and wth him after ye manner of an apprentice to dwell & remaine from ye day of ye date unto the full terms of seven yeares from thence next ensueinge and fully to be compleated and dureinge wch said terme the sd apprentice his said Master faithfully shall serve, his secrets keepe, his lavfull commandmts. every where gladly doe, hee shall doe noe damage to his said Master nor suffer to be done by others but that hee to his power shall hinder ye same or speedily give his Master notice, hee shall not vast nor purloyne ye goods of his said Master nor lend them unlawfully to any, fornicacon bee shall not commit nor contract matrimony, au ye cards dice tables nor any unlawfull game he shall not play Whereby his said Master may have any losse either in his owne goods or others. dureinge ye said Terme he shall not absent himselfe from his said Masters service by day or night unlawfully, but in all thinges as a faithfull apprentice shall behave and demeane himselfe towards his said Master, and his said Master his said Apprentice in ye art & trade wch hee now useth by ye best meanes hee may or can shall teach & instruct or cause to be taught and instructed findinge unto his said Apprentice sufficient of meat drinke washinge lodgeinge and apparell and all other necessarys fitt for such an apprentice and to ye true pformance hereof ye said parties binde themselves each to the other. In Wittness whereof ye said parties sett their handes and Stales ye Sixth day of May 1687 and in ye third yeare of his Majties Reigne

      ye House of JNO. SIMS Deced in his life time & in ye time of his Sickness did see severall Discharges drawne by RALPH WALKER & JNO. SIMS one to Discharge JNO: WALTEN from JOHN SIMS, one for THUR: PATE one for ye sd RALPH WALKER & were a Drawing a Bill Sell for ye sd SIMS horse commonly knowne by ye name of ye Boald Colt but not finished at ye time because of Company comemg in but did see ye above mentioned discharges signed Sealed & Deld. by the sd SIMS Deced to ye sd RALPH WALKER to save ye same untill please God he recovered or Dyed if Recovered ye said Discharges to bee returned to himselfe if not to ye Parties mentioned & further saith not.
      And RICHD, HEMWOOD Deposes ye same as ye sd THOMAS ATKINS they being both Evidences to ye said Discharges & further saith not, and further ye sd ATKINS & HEMWOOD saith yt they did at times here JOHN SIMS say to ye Company of those here if he should die remember ye to give those Discharges being drawne & aftr Signeing the sd Discharges they did both see a Bill of Sale for ye above menconed Horse unto JNO. COLCLOUGH but given in ye Possession of RALPH WALKER ye Accot as ye above mentioned Discharge were & further saith not same
