Joseph Gwynn recorded deed of trust 23 Jan. 1776 from Robert Bruce for 5 shillings, assigns Negro man Dick, and Negro boy Harry, to hold in trust for my brother Townly Bruce, to be conveyed after my death, should I die before my return from Boston in New England. Provided nevertheless, should I return safe from Boston then this present deed is null and void.

Jan 22, 1780 from Townley Bruce of George Town in M, to Robert Peter of M, for 5 shillings and for divers other good reasons, 1 penknife in name of the whole, Negro men named Ned and Peter, and all his undivided half part of the Negroes and their increase, given by the sd Robert Peter to his daughters, Mary and Harriot, as by deed recorded in Frederick County, under trust and confidence, nevertheless, that the sd Townley Bruce and his present wife may hold, possess, and enjoy, during their natural lives and her, the sd Harriot's widowhood, the whole of the slaves afd, with their increase, under the further trust that the sd Robert Peter shall convey, at the death of the sd Townley Bruce and Harrot, his wife, in case she has not married a 2nd time, all the Negroes afd, with their increase, to their child or children, as may be directed by the will of the sd Townley Bruce, or in case of his dying intestate, to the child or children of him, the sd Townley Bruce by his present wife, as may legally fall to their shares of the sd Negroes and their increase, and under the further trust that the sd Robt. Peter will, in case the sd Townley Bruce should die before his present wife and she should marry a 2nd time, make over and see delivered, as soon as may be after the 2nd marriage, two thirds of all the Negroes afd, to the child or children of the present marriage.
