      I Thomas Hawkins Hanson do hereby farm let the following tracts or parts of land to the following persons for the consideration hereinafter mentioned and I hereby engage under penalty of 500 pounds sterling to sign seal and deliver (which my wife Rebecca Hanson does also engage to do) a lease for the same which is only prevented from being done at this time from the want of the courses, vizt; part of "Brothers Joint Interest Enlarged", and part of "Prevention Enlarged" containing 412 acres containing 794 ΒΌ acres to William Hurly, Leonard Soper, William Jenkins and John Evans for the term of 21 years provided the said Rebecca Hanson so long shall live and paying yearly the quantity of 13,000 weight of inspected tobacco each hogshead to contain not less than 1000 weight. This lease to take effect immediately and the rent to be Laid accordingly and to be paid on December 25th yearly.       THIS INDENTURE made this Eighteenth day of September in year of our Lord one thouand seven hundred & Eighty nine Between DANIEL HURLEY of Culpeper County as acting by Power of Attorney from WILLIAM HURLEY of PRINCE GEORGES County in MARYLAND of one part and JAMES CHAPPELEAR of County of Culpeper of other part; Witnesseth tht DANIEL HURLEY acting as above mentioned in consideration of the yearly rent of One thousand pounds of Crop tobacco punctually paid, and also all the Taxes that become due, the said CHAPPELEAR to plant fifty Apple trees and not destroy timber, said BURLY have rented to him said CHAPPELEAR his heirs during the term of Ninety nine years to commence in calculation from the Twelvth day of April one thousand seven hundred & Eighty eight, a loft of land No. 4, runing and abounding, Begining at a Poplar on side of a Branch, corner to Lott No. 3., thence North 67 poles to two white Oaks, thence North 16 West 68 poles to a Chesnut & Poplar saplin, thence North 10d. East 16 pole to a white Oak in RUSSELs line, thence with said line South 46d. East 281 poles to red oaks, thence South 16 1/2 West 127 poles to two Hickory saplins, thence South 72d. West 20 poles to two Spanish Oaks on side of the COUNTY ROAD that leads through CHESTER GAP, thence intersecting with the Road North 21d. West 191 poles to a Chesnut and Locust, thence North 88d.       THIS INDENTURE made this 11th day of May in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & Eighty nine Between NOTLEY CONN of Culpeper County as acting by a Power of Attorney from THOMAS CONN Senr., of one part and WILLIAM HURLEY of PRINCE GEORGE County in State of MARILAND, Planter, of other part; Witnesseth that NOTLEY CONN as acting by a Power of Attorney as abovementioned in consideration of the yearly rent of Ten thousand pounds of Crop Tobacco to him yearly to be punctually paid by WILLIAM HURLEY his heirs during the continuance of the term, hath rented leased & farm let to WILLIAM HURLEY his heirs during the term of Ninety nine years to commence in calculation from the 12th of April one thousand seven hundred & Eighty eight all that tract of land laying in Culpper County known by the name of CONNS LANEY MOUNTAIN TRACT and containing the quantity of Three thousand Two hundred acres of land, and NOTLEY CONN acting as abovementioned doth further covenant and bargain with WILLIAM HURLEY that he will warrant and defend the said WILLIAM HURLEY his heirs in the quiet possession of the Three thousand Two hundred acres of land during the continuance of the term of year above specified against all manner of persons; In Testimony thereof the parties to these presents have set their hands & affixed their seals the day and year above written
