Know all men .. I JOHN GRANT of parish Brunswick & county King George in consideration of the natural love & affection which I bear to my Sons & Daughters to wit JOHN GRANT, DANIEL GRANT, GEORGE GRANT, WILLIAM GRANT, ELIZABETH BRUCE, ROSAMOND WRIGHT, MARGARET GRANT & MARY GRANT & for their future advancement in the world give (them) all my estate reserving to myself the same during my natural life and after my decease to descend as follows - I give to my son John Grant all that parcel of land given to me by my Father WILLIAM GRANT & two negroes; to my sons Daniel Grant & George Grant all the land I hold in Prince William County to be equally divided between them; to my son William Grant, all the lands I purchased of JOHN CORBIN & STEPHEN HANSFORD .., to my daughter Mary one negro girl; to my daughter Margaret one feather bed and furniture; give to my Sons and Daughters (named again) eight negroes and their future increase to be equally divided between them .. 7th July 1757.
