      I, Thomas Thompson Sr and Elizabeth, my wife, of Cc, planter, for the love I have for my son, Henry Thompson of CC, I have given Henry part of that tract of land called Three Brothers, lying in CC, bounded by Potomack River, containing 131.5 acres, which half acre of land being where the graves are. Sep 12, 1764 from Thomas Contee of CC, merchant, and Henry Fendall of CC, attorney at law, executors of the will of Benjamin Fendall, late of CC, Esq, dead, to Philip Richard Fendall of CC, Gent. sd Benjamin Fendall, by his will dated Apr 6, 1764, among other things, directed that the rest of his real and personal estate should be sold by his executors. Sd Benjamin, at his death, was seized, in fee, of part of a tract of land called Battons Cliffs, and one other tract called Three Brothers, situated on Potomack River. Also, one other tract called Beavers Lodge, situated on. Zakiah Swamp in CC. Sd three tracts were purchased by the afd Philip Richard Fendall at public vendue of the executors. This deed therefore witnesses that the sd Thomas Contee and Henry Fendall, for 550 £sterling, grant to Philip Richard Fendall, the afd three tracts. Battons Cliffs was granted to John Fendall, Gentleman, by a proprietary deed dated Aug 5, 1721, and by sd John Fendall conveyed to the afd Benjamin Fendall, his son, by deed dated Nov 22, 1729, and recorded in CC, containing, as in sd Proprietary grant, it is said, 562 acres, excepting about 30 acres which in the deed from the sd John Fendall unto sd Benjamin, son, is excepted, and except 166 acres heretofore sold and conveyed by sd Benjamin Fendall unto Henry Thompson by deed dated Jul 31, 1749, and except also 107 acres conveyed by the sd Benjamin unto Philip Richard Fendall, party to these presents, by deed dated Feb 13, 1758. [Also' all that tract of land containing about 130.5 acres, situated on Potowmack River in CC, adjacent to the before mentioned tract called Battins Cliffs, and is called the Three Brothers, purchased by the sd Benjamin Fendall of Henry Thompson and Margaret, his wife, as appears by their deed dated Jul 31, 1749.
      [Also] all that tract of land called Beavers Lodge, -situated at Zackiah Swamp in CC, containing 47 acres, granted to John Fendall, as appears by a Proprietary deed or patent dated Jul 10, 1725, and after the death of the sd John, the patent descended unto the afd Benjamin Fendall, his son and heir at law. Nov 13, 1786 from Philip Richard Fendall of Fairfax County, Gent, and Elizabeth, his wife, to Benjamin Gwinn of the County afd, farmer, for 2940 £of Virginia money, all the lands now owed and held by the sd Philip Richard Fendall in the Parish of William and Mary in CC (except as herein after excepted) supposed to be 690 acres, which tracts are described as follows - 1 tract containing all that land comprehended within a certain patent granted by the Lord Proprietary of Maryland to Capt. John Fendall of CC dated Aug 5, 1721, which tract is known as Battens Clifts, and contains 562 acres, excepting out of sd tract 3 parcels of land, one containing 30 acres sold and conveyed by the sd John Fendall to Richard Marshall, another containing 126 acres part of a larger parcel of 166-1/2 acres and conveyed by Benjamin Fendall to Henry Thompson by deed dated Jul 31, 1749, which sd 1264 acres were sold by sd Henry Thompson and his wife to Richard Lee, and are now in the possession of the sd Richard Lee, and one containing acre reserved for the vault and burying ground of the Fendall family, which part of Battens Clifts hereby intended to be sold, has been conveyed to the sd Philip Richard Fendall in manner following, to wit, 107 acres part thereof by sd Benjamin Fendall to the sd Philip Richard Fendall by deed dated Feb 13, 1758, 259-1/2 acres, another part thereof by Thomas Contee and Henry Fendall, executors of the will of sd Benjamin Fendall by deed dated Sep 12, 1764, and 40 acres, another part thereof, by William Warren to the sd Philip Richard Fendall by deed dated Sep 26, 1768, which sd 40 acres were sold to the sd William Warren by the sd Henry Thompson and his wife, and one other tract containing all the lands within a certain patent granted by the Proprietor of Maryland to Elizabeth Howard during her natural life, and to Sarah Howard and Margaret Howard, joint tenants in fee simple, of CC, dated Oct 12, 1726, which last mentioned tract is part of a larger tract known as the Three Brothers, and is said to contain 225 acres, excepting 1/2 acre part thereof, being the vault and burying ground for the Thompson family, and which sd last mentioned tract of land was sold, 130 acres part thereof, by Henry Thompson and Margaret, his wife, before that time, Margaret Howard, surviving sister and heir of Sarah Howard to Benjamin Fendall, and by the afd executors of the sd Benjamin Fendall sold to the sd Philip Richard Fendall, and 95 acres, the residue thereof, by the sd Henry Thompson and his wife, to the afd William Warren, and by the sd William Warren to the sd Philip Richard Fendall by deed dated Sep 26, 1768, and one other tract of 60 acres, granted La Lhe afd Philip Richard Fendall by patent dated Sep 1'!, 1772.
