Joseph Chew, born 1641, died 1716, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland., where he removed from York County, Virginia., after 1659, married a daughter of a Mr. Larkin of Annapolis. They had a son, Larkin Chew, born 1686, died 1729, returned to Virginia about 1700, and lived subsequently in counties of King and Queen, Essex, and Spotsylvania. Justice of Peace of Spotsylvania in 1722; Sheriff, 1727-'28; Burgess, 1723 and '26. Will prob. April 1, 1729. Married Hannah, daughter of John Roy of Port Royal, Virginia. Had issue: 1, Thomas, justice of the peace, sheriff, etc., Spotsylvania; 2, Anne; 3, John; 4, Larkin, justice of the peace, sheriff, etc.
