Aug 12, 1777 from 1777 from Ninian Beall of M, to Benjamin Edwards and Margaret, his wife, of Stafford County, Virginia, for and in consideration of sd Benjamin Edwards being married to the daughter of sd Ninian Beall, Ninian Beall gives to sd Benjamin Edwards and Margaret, his wife, to be disposed of as they shall think proper, either by selling of the following lands and dividing the money among my daughter, Margaret's children, born in wedlock with sd Benjamin Edwards, or the lands divided as they shall think proper, among her children, and if sd Benjamin Edwards dies without heir by sd Margaret, to have the land or money if sold before his death, then to belong to my daughter and the heirs of her, sd Margaret, to be disposed of sd Margaret shall think proper, they living to heir it, and if sd Margaret dies without heir and the land not sold, it is then to be sold and the money to go to the rest of my children or children's children, viz, 429 acres, being part of a tract of land called the Resurvey on Gravelly Ridge. Also 271 acres, called part of the Resurvey on the Rich Meadow, bounded by Resurvey on Gravelly Ridge, containing about 700 acres. Whereas Andrew Beall Jr, late of Frederick County, decd, did intend, by his will, to devise all his lands, viz, the tract called part of the second resurvey on the William and John, another called Buck bottom, and another called part of Mitchells Range, now lying in M, unto his sisters Susanna, Margaret, Eleanor, Ruth, Mary, and Rachel, in fee, but by mistake in the draft of his will gave the sd lands to them for their lives only. And whereas the afd several sisters and their husbands, together with their brother, Charles Beall, heir at law to the sd Andrew Beall Jr, decd, to correct the error in sd will, have mutually agreed to a division of the sd lands into 7 parts, which division has already taken place, each sister and her husband to hold their respective lot, as per allotment to them forever. And the sd Charles Beall, to hold his respective lot, as per allotment to him forever, for which purpose the parties to these presents have agreed to give each other their respective deeds. Now this indenture witnesses that sd Alexander Cattlett and Susanna, his wife, Hardage Lane and Rachel, his wife, Zachariah Offutt and Elener, his wife, Charles Gassaway and Ruth, his wife, John Watkins Jr, and Mary, his wife, and Charles Beall and Tabitha, his wife, for 5 shillings sterling, grant to sd Benjamin Edwards and Margaret, his wife, all that parcel of land in M, being part of one of the afd tract of land called part of the Second Resurvey on William and John, beginning for the sd lot (being the 2nd lot in the Division) at the end of the 30th line of the whole tract, then to Hardage Lane's given line, containing about 166 acres.
