Anthony Gholson, Jr., was probably born and raised in Spotsylvania County, Virginia and married Mary Sandidge, daughter of William and Anne Sandidge, by 1743. He and Mary lived close by her parents on land he purchased from William Sandidge, from 1744 until 1764, when he probably moved to Louisa County. In 1777 he migrated Halifax County, Virginia and it seems most of his married children migrated with him. Anthony Jr. died in 1779. Mary Sandidge Gholson marred John Brown on 8 Aug 1788, Halifax County, Virginia and died after 1798.

Anne Martin, wife of Joseph Martin, of Louisa Co. Whereas Wm. Sandige, late of Spts. Co., decd., was seized of several tracts of land in Spts. Co., and made his last will and testament, March 11, 1746, and by the sd. instrument did leave to the sd. Ann, party to these presents, then his wife, three negroes, etc., and the balance of his property to be divided between the sd. of Frederick ... consideration of Rents Duties and Covenants herein after mentioned ... granted to Farm Let ... Parcel of Land in Tenure and Occupation of said Anthony Gholson now containing One hundred & thirteen Acres of Land more or less lying in Frederick County and above the head of Worthington Marsh being one half or moiety of a Lot Leased the 1st Dec. 1767 to James Bernard and became forfited by his non Compliance with the Covenants ... adjoining to the Line of Alexander Foyer ... for and during the Natural lives of said Anthony Gholson Elizabeth his wife and William his Son ... Yielding and paying unto said George Washington yearly and every year four Pounds at his dwelling house in Fairfax County.
