Charles County, Maryland Liber L#2, Page 462. At the request of Charles Smoot of CC, the following deed was recorded this Mar 17, 1728.
Nov 13, 1728 from Thomas Smoot of CC, planter, to Charles Smoot of CC, planter, for 9000 lbs of tobacco and for divers other good causes, (in sd Charles Smoot's actual possession now being) several tracts of land (that is to say) a certain tract of land formerly granted to John Goldsmith by patent dated Aug 9, 1658, lying on the west side of Wicocomoco [wicomico] River, bounded by a poplar tree by a fresh run near the head of a branch called Smoots Branch, the head of a fresh called the forked Cr, containing, as by sd patent, about 150 acres. Also another tract of land in CC called Smoots Chance, bounded by the bound tree of the Cabbin Land, Richard Harrison's land by forked Cr, containing and laid out for about 160 acres. Signed - Thomas Smoot. Wit - Robt Hanson*, Henry Hawkins*. This deed was acknowledged by Thomas Smoot and Abigail, his wife.

At the request of Benjamin Fendall, the following deed was recorded on May 29, 1749.
May 23, 1749 from Thomas Smoot of CC, planter, to Benjamin Fendall of CC, gentleman, for 20 shillings, part of a tract of land called Smoots Hazard, lying in CC on Fresh Run, commonly called Allen's Fresh, above the bridge, bounded by the Main Run of the Fresh at the upper side of an old Mill Dam, containing and now laid out for about 1 acre. Signed - Tho: Smoot. Wit - Joseph (P his mark) Pain, John Fendall. The deed was acknowledged by Thomas Smoot and Abigail, his wife.
