1780-1784 Prince George's County, Maryland Land Records Liber FF 1 [Abstract by Mike Marshall]; Page 230. At the request of Notley Young the following Deed was enrolled August 26, 1782
Indenture made August 14, 1782; between Hoskins Hanson, Gentleman and his wife Catherine Hanson of Charles County, Maryland of one part and Notley Young, Gentleman of PGCo. Whereas Richard Marsham by his last will and testament bearing date April 14, 1713 did devise unto his five grandchildren; Samuel Queen, Marsham Queen, William Queen, Catherine Queen and Margaret Queen a tract called the "Inclosure" which the said Marsham bought of Col. Ninian Beall containing 1040 acres; and whereas William Queen died w/o issue and Catherine Queen married William Matthews Thompson and had issue, Richard Thompson her eldest son and heir at law who had issue, the aforesaid Catherine Hanson party to these presents his only child, the said child, the said Catherine Queen after the death of William Matthews Thompson intermarried with Walter Hanson who by virtue of the intermarriage claimed the part of the "Inclosure" willed to the said Catherine Queen during his natural life and as tenant heretofore sold and conveyed his estate to John Shercliff and the said Hoskins Hanson and Catherine Hanson intending for valuable consideration to vest the said Notley Young with an estate in fee simple; therefore in consideration of 551 pounds current specie paid by Notley Young and for other good causes and considerations them thereunto moving have sold the aforesaid tract of land containing 275 ½ acres and beginning at a bounded hickory the westernmost corner boundary of the "Grange" and the beginning of "Meeirs?" and a dividing boundary between Samuel Queen and Walter Hanson, and bounded by John Tucker's cornfield, a spring that runs into Goose Creek, the southwest corner of "Inclosure" containing 456 acres heretofore sold by Col. Ninian Beall to Benjamin Haddock. Signed Hoskins Hanson, Catherine Hanson (and relinquished her dower) in the presence of and acknowledged before Daniel Jenifer, Walter Hanson Jenifer (JP's of Charles County, Maryland)

      Subject: Re: Catherine Queen

MM: there is reference to a catherine queen that first married William Mathews Thompson and 2nd Walter Bayne,

I had Walter Bayne born 1712 and Catherine Queen born about 1684 a generation apart. I thought it was a daughter Elizabeth of William Mathews
      Thompson that married Walter Bayne.

      From: "nlndgrn@sbcglobal dot net"

I think the marriage of Walter Hanson to Catherine Queen is a mis-write of a deed and was concerning the marriage of Catherine Queen Thompson and Hoskins Hanson. I think the deed is saying that after the death of her BROTHER, the heir at law to his grandmother, William Matthews Thompson; Catherine Queen Thompson married Hoskins Hanson, the son of Walter Hanson and Elizabeth Hoskins. Somehow, in copying the deed, it confused the facts and gave his name as Walter Hanson rather than Hoskins Hanson. Perhaps his name was really Walter Hoskins Hanson.

Catherine Queen Thompson and her brother, William Matthews Thompson are mentioned in the 1729 (1749) probate of their father, Richard Matthews Thompson, as being age 2 for Catherine and 5 for William. William Matthews Thompson didn't survive to adulthood.

The only Walter Hanson of a compatible age to Catherine Queen was Judge Walter Hanson, son of Samuel Hanson and Elizabeth Storey. Walter's wife was the Elizabeth (Hoskins) Hanson whose 1773 obituary you have in the Maryland Gazette. Walter and Elizabeth (Hoskins) Hanson were the parents of Hoskins Hanson who married Catherine Queen Thompson, she being the only surviving child of Richard Matthews Thompson who was the only surviving child of William Matthews Thompson, Sr. and Catherine Queen. I don't think Catherine Queen survived William Matthews Thompson by very long and the Orphans court may have some documentation concerning a guardian for Richard Matthews Thompson.

Catherine Queen Thompson was the d/o Richard Matthews Thompson and Sarah Douglas, Sarah Douglas marrying second to Joseph Thompson, the first cousin of Richard Matthews Thompson.

Catherine Queen was born 1707. Catherine (Marsham) Queen, her mother, was born about 1670-75.

Elizabeth Hoskins was the d/o William Hoskins and Violetta Harrison. Violetta Harrison married second to Col. Robert Hanson, the uncle of Judge Walter Hanson.

Sarah Douglas was the only d/o Joseph Douglas and Sarah Hanson, Sarah Hanson being the sister of Col. Robert Hanson (above) and the aunt of Judge Walter Hanson
