      This Indenture made the Twentieth day of Janry: Anno Domini 1717 Between Henry METCALFE of County of Northumberland, Planter, and Prescilla his wife and John TURNER of same County, Planter, and Pheby his Wife, of one part and Edward BARROW of County of Richmond, Gent. of the other part; Witnesseth that Henry METCALFE and Prescilla his Wife and John TURNER and Pheby his Wife in consideration of the sume of Five shillings Sterling to them in hand paid by Edward BARROW, by these p:sents doe bargain and sell unto Edward BARROW and assignes all that parcell of land containing by estimation Seventy five acres be the same more or less scituate in Parish of Sittenbourn and County of Richmond being part of a Patent for Two hundred acres granted to Capt: John WEIR Dated the 26th day of June 1666 which sd: land hereby granted by severall mean conveyances came unto Richard SHIPPY, father of the sd: Precilla METCALFE & Pheby TURNER, and legally descended unto them as coheirs to their Father and is bounded, Beginning at a Gum in a great Swamp, corner to some land belonging to George LUKE Esqr., running thence East 5 deg: North 110 poles to two red Oaks near HARRISON's Old Field, thence North 5 deg: West over a great Swamp 108 ½ poles to a Stake near an Old Field, thence West 5 deg: West 110 poles to a Hickory on the side of an Hill, thence to the beginning 108 1½ Together with all houses orchards and appurtenances to the same belonging; To have & to hold the parcell of land unto Edward BARROW and assignes during the full terme of one whole year paying thefore the Rent of one Ear of Indian corne at the Feast of St. Michael the Archangell next ensueing, if lawfully demanded, to the intent that by ertue of these p:sents and of the Statute for transferring uses into possession the sd: Edward BARROW may be in the actuall possession of the :misses & thereby the better enable to accept a release of the inheritance thereof; In Witness whereof the parties first above named to these p:sent Indentures have interchangeably sett their hands & Seals the day and year first above written.       HENRY METCALFE and PRISCILLA his Wife, JOHN TURNER and PHEBE his Wife, came into Court and acknowledged this their Deed unto EDWARD BARROW (the said PRISCILLA and PHEBE being first privately examined) which was admitted to Record

      THIS INDENTURE made the Twentith day of Janry: Anno Domini 1717 Between HENRY METCALFE of County of NORTHUMBERLAND, Planter, & PRECILLA his Wife and JOHN TURNER of same County, Planter, and PHEBY his Wife of one part and EDWARD BARROW of Parish of Northfarnham in County of Richmond, Gent., of other part; Witnesseth that HENRY METCALFE & PRECILLA his Wife and JOHN TURNER and PHEBY his Wife for sume of One thousand pounds of tobacco to them paid by EDWARD BARROW by these p:sents do bargain sell release & confirm unto EDWARD BARROW (in his actual! possession now being by vertue of a Bargain & Sale to him made for one year and by force and vertue of the Statute for transferring uses into possession) his heirs all that par- cell of land containing by estimation Seventy five acres be the same more or less scituate in Parish of Sittenbourn in County of Richmond (this Release repeats the Pattent to Capt. JOHN WEIR, the conveyances to RICHARD SHIPPY, Father of PRECILLA METCALFE and PHEBY TURNER, and the description of the bounds of the Land); To have and to hold the parcel! of land with the appurtenances unto EDWARD BARROW his heirs and HENRY METCALFE & PRECILLA his Wife and JOHN TURNER & PHEBY his Wife for themselves their heirs doe promise EDWARD BARROW his heirs will warrant and for Ever defend by these p:sents; free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever; In Witnesse whereof the parties first above named to these p:sent Indentures have interchangeably sett their hands & seals the day & year first above written
