      George Bannister's Will
      In the name of God Amen, I George Bannister of the parish of Cople and County of Westmoreland being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
      Item I will that my sister Ann Smith have satisfaction for her trouble of May and my sickness.
      Item I will that my sister’s son Robert Smith may have my bearskin coat and a serge waist coat, and a fine felt hatt.
      Item I give to my brother-in-law John Baley, a serge coat, a pair of breaches idem, a pair of shoes, and a white linen shirt.
      Item I give and bequeath to my loving sister Ann Smith two pair of yarn hose.
      Item I will that the rest of my estate be equally divided between my two sisters, Ann Smith and Elizabeth Baley.
      Lastly, I appoint John Baley, Robert Smith and Mr. Frances Wright my executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day of May 1762

      At a court held for Westmoreland County the 29th day of June 1762 this will was proved according to law by the oath of James Baley, Sr. and Stephen Baley, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded; and on the motion of John Baley and Robert Smith two of the executors named in the said will who made oath according to law together with James Baley and Frances Wright their securities entered into and acknowledged bond with condition as the law directs, certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.

      Stephen Smith Will
      In the name of God Amen, I Stephen Smith, Sr., of Westmoreland County in the parish of Cople being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect memory do make this my last will and testament.
      Item I give to my well beloved son Robert Smith, one cow big with calf.
      Item I will that my well beloved son Samuel Smith have two years schooling out of my estate and when according to the opinion of my executors he be big enough to go to a trade my will is that he should be bound to his uncle George Banister.
      Item my will is that my wife and children keep together on my plantation as long as they can contrive to subsist well on the same and if any of the elder children should go away and leave the rest they shall not carry away any part of my estate, and my will is when they can live on the said place no longer that then my executors set up my land to public auction for ready money and them that is of age to take their parts of the same and they that are underage their money to be laid up by my executors and made to be bound out to whom my executors think proper.
      Lastly, I appoint my beloved brother Samuel Smith and my loving friend James Baley and my loving wife Ann Smith whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 22nd day of November 1761

      At a court held for Westmoreland County the 30th day of March 1762 this will was proved according to law by the oath of Peter McClanahan and John Bailey witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded; and on the motion of Ann Smith, James Baley and Samuel Smith the executors named in the said will who made or oath according to law and together with William Creswick, John Baley and James Baley, Sr., their securities entered into and acknowledged bond with condition as the law directs, certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
