      13 Jun 1710; Indenture from Barbary Mudd of Prince George's Co. to Thomas Paggett of Prince George's County, planter; for 6,000# tobacco; a tract called MUDDS REST bounded by BOARMANS RESERVE; containing 200 acres; /s/ Barbary Maddox; wit. Phillip Hoskins, Thomas Stone; ack. in open court Jun 1710

      Pursuant to the order of last Nov CC Court, Commission issued to examine witnesses touching the bounds of a tract of land called Mudds Rest, lying in CC, in possession of Will'm Middleton, as follows: To Allen Davies, Jona: Willson, Jona: Davies Jr, and John Anderson of CC, Gent (not being any way related to the Petr, contiguous Proprietor, nor interested in the sd land). The Commissioners are given authority to examine all witnesses touching their knowledge of the bounds of sd tract of land. Signed Nov 17, 1737 - Sam:l Hanson, Clk.
      And now here, Jona: Willson and John Anderson, return to this Court the Commission afd, with the following certificate and depositions: we certify that we took the examination of all such witnesses as came before us, relating to the bounds of the land mentioned in sd Commission. Signed Mar 29, 1738 - Jona: Willson, John Anderson.

      CC. Mar 29, 1738. The deposition of Thomas Hays, age about 50, who says that about 40 years ago, Mr. Thos: Mudd told this deponent that in the branch where he now stands, stood a bounded poplar tree, but that this deponent never saw the tree, and that about 14 years ago, Thomas Padget showed this deponent a poplar tree by which he now stands and told him that it was a bounded tree of Thomas Mudd's land, and that the sd Thos: Padgett claimed the sd poplar for a bounded tree of the land the sd Padgett bought of Barbara Mudd. Signed - Thomas (X his mark) Hays.

      Mar 29, 1738. The deposition of Bowling Speake, aged about 64, who says that about 30 years ago, this deponent was riding over the Fording Place, in the branch in which he now stands, with John Burroughs, and that the sd Burroughs told this deponent that a little way up the branch stood a bounded poplar tree of Mudds Land, but that the sd Burroughs never showed this deponent the tree.

      Mar 29, 1738. The deposition of John Thomas, age about 54, who says that about 18 years ago, Thomas Padgett showed this deponent a bounded poplar tree by which he now stands and told him that it was a bounded tree of the land that the sd Padgett bought of Barbara Mudd, and that sd Padgett ran from sd bounded poplar and laid out the sd land on the north side of sd poplar.
