Will of Nathaniel Garland of the Parish of Cople in the County of Westmoreland, being sick and weak of body, dated 16 Jan. 1702 [1703].
Whereas Robert Middleton and Mary his wife did in their life time give to my son John and my son Nathaniel to each one mare and whereas my said sons are both deceased and since their deaths I having sold and made use of the increase of the said mares to the value of 6000 pounds of tobacco, my son Samuel [Jeremiah] Garland may have the aforesaid sum out of my estate, which of right to him belongs, as also one servant Teague Rogan which was the servant of my son Nathaniel Garland, and also one still, tub and worm which was sent out of England for the use and rescue of my son John Garland.
My son Jeremiah Garland have two cows which were formerly given by me to his two deceased brothers, which cows are at this time unmarked, and one small gunn that was my son John Garland's.
All my whole estate to my son Jeremiah Garland and make him executor, but because my said son is under age I appoint my loving brother Thomas Garland trustee until he shall arrive to his full age.

MIDDLETON, ROBERT, 1 February 1696-7; 26 May 1697.
Son John 50 acres of land, and rest of my lands to sons John and Benedict jointly and that the eldest heir male enjoy my plantation Taniherne with 364 acres of land. My sons or their heirs shall not at any time sell or mortgage any of my land save to each other.
To John and Nathaniel sons of Nathaniel Garland one crown to buy gloves.
To Daniel and Jeremiah sons of Nathaniel Garland 500 pounds tobacco each.
To John, Robert, Thomas and Elizabeth Middleton, children of John Middleton 500 pounds tobacco each when of age.
Sons John and Benedict residue of estate and the negroes upon my plantation and Alimbeck be not divided.
