      THIS INDENTURE TRIPARTITE made the 31st day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty nine, Between ROBERT VAULX of County of Westmorland, Gent., of the first part; ELIZABETH WASHINGTON of same County, Widow, of second part; And AUGUSTINE WASHINGTON and JOHN STORK of County of Westmorland of the third part; Witnesseth that ROBT. VAULX for sum of Five shillings current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by AUGUSTINE WASHINGTON & JOHN STORK, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath and by these presents doth bargain & sell unto ELIZA: WASHINGTON all that parcel of land whereon ROBT. VAULX now lives together with part of a greater parcel of land lying in NOMONY in ye sd. County, Begining at a Swamp upon the Main Road that leads to Westmoreland Court House & runing thence down the Road to EDWARD MUSE's line, thence along said line to a Branch & down the Branch to another Branch that leads to VAULX's MILL, thence up the Branch to FITZHUGH;s line that devides his land from said VAULX's, thence up said line to another Branch or Swamp, thence down the same to ye begining; including ye tenement in ye occupation and possession of JOHN SANDOW & late ABRAM MATHEL's, MARY PARKINGTON's & THOS: SHADRICK's and all houses profits & appurtenances to the premises belonging; To have and to hold the ELIZA: WASHINGTON, AUGUSTINE WASHINGTON & JOHN STORK the premises with appurtenances during the term of one whole year paying therefore the rent of one Pepper Corn on Lady Day next if lawfully demanded to the intent that by virtue of these presents and of the Statute for transferring uses into possession, ELIZA: WASHINGTON, AUGT.       THIS INDENTURE TRIPARTITE made the first day of August in the year of our Lord 1749, Between ROBT. VAULX of County of Westmorland, Gent., of first part, ELIZATH: WASHINGTON of same County, Widow, of second part; and AUGUSTINE WASHINGTON & JOHN STORKE, Gent., of sd. County of third part; Witnesseth that in consideration of a Marriage intended by God's permission to e had and solemnized between ROBT. VAULX & ELIZA: WASHINGTON and also in consideration of the benefit in slaves money & otherwise as will accrue or arise to ROBT. VAULX by the Marriage & for the settling & assuring of a compleat Jointure & Maintainance for ELIZABETH WASHINGTON during her Widowhood, & also for the settling conveying & assuring of the lands & hereditaments with appurtenances belonging to ROBERT VAULX herein after particularly mentioned, to such uses intents & purposes & in such mariner & form as are herein after expressed and declared & in consideration of Five shillings of lawfull money of Great Brittain by AUGT. WASHINGTON & JOHN STORK to ROBT. VAULX in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, and for divers other good causes & considerations him thereunto moveing, ROBT. VAULX hath and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto AUGT. WASHINGTON & JOHN STORK, in their actual possession now being by virtue of a bargain & sale to them made by ROBERT VAULX for the term of one year & by force of the Statute for transferring uses into possession, and to their heirs all that Plantation whereon ROBERT VAULX now lives in County of Westmorland containing by estimation 250 acres be the same more or less, together with all houses orchards profits & appurtenances to the same belonging; together with full power of cutting any Timber for the use of the Dwelling Plantation from off that parcel of land purchased by ROBT. VAULX from HUGH FRENCH containing 225 acres by estimation with free ingress, egress & regress for cutting & carrying away such Timber, And also all that other parcel of land lying in County of Westmorland, Beginning (the bounds of the land repeated as in the Lease); To have and to hold the lands & slaves herein efore mentioned or intended unto AUGUSTINE WASHINGTON & JOHN STORK & their heirs until the solemnization of the intended Marriage to the use of ROBT. VAULX & during the term of his natural life without impediment to the use of AUGT. WASHINGTON & JOHN STORK their heirs during the natural life of ROBERT VAULX upon Trust only for preserving the contingent uses & Estates heein after limitted, But AUGT. WASHINGTON & JOHN STORK their heirs shall suffer ROBT. VAULX & his assigns to receive & take the rents issues & profits thereof to his & their own use & from & immediately after the death of ROBT. VAULX to the use of ELIZABETH WASHINGTON during her natural life if she shall so long continue & remain a Widow in full rrcompence & satisfaction of all Dower which ELIZABETH WASHINGTON may or might otherwise claim or challenge in any lands or other Estate of ROBT. VAULX her intended Husband, and from & immediately after the decease or Marriage of ELIZA: WASHINGTON the Dwelling Plantation with the appurtenances to be to the use of ROBT. VAULX & his heirs, but the other tract of land containing 550 acres with the appurtenances & the said six slaves wth: their future increase from & immediately after the death or marriage of ELIZA. WASHINGTON to be to the use of such Child or Children of ROBT. VAULX on the body of ELIZA: WASHINGTON lawfully to be begotten and for such Estates & Interests therein as ROBT. VAULX by his Last Will and Testament in Writing or any Deed or Instrument of Writing duely executed & in presence of three or more witnesses shall direct and appoint, And in case no such Deed or Will shall be executed, then to the use of the first Son of ROBT. VAULX on the body of ELIZABETH WASHINGTON lawfully to be begotten & the heirs of the body of the first Son lawfully to be begotten and for default of such issue to the use of the Second Son of ROBT. VAULX on the body of ELIZA: WASHINGTON lawfully to be begotten & the heirs of such second Son lawfully to be begotten, (this Deed continues in this manner for third through Tenth Son and all other Sons of ROBT. VAULX and ELIZA: WASHINGTON), the Elder of said Sons & their heirs of his body being always perferred before the younger & the heirs of their bodies, and for default of such issue to the use of AUGUSTINE WASHINGTON & JOHN STORK & their heirs until ELIZA: WASHINGTON shall be of such Child or Children delivered or die wch: shall first happen, In Trust, for the benefit of such after born Child or Children and in default of the issue of such Sons, to the use of the Daughter & Daughters of ROBT. VAULX on the body of ELIZA: WASHINGTON lawfully to be begotten and the heirs of their bodies lawfully to be begotten to he equally divided between them; (a very long document full of repitiion but the foregoing s abstract it is believed gives the idea of the deed), In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have to two part, hereof all of the same tenor & date set their hands & seals the day & year first above written

      THIS INDENTURE made the 28th day of July in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and fifty five; Between JAMES BOWCOCK of the Parish of Washington and County of Westmorland of one part and JOHN STORKE of the same Parish and County of other part; Witnesseth that JAMES BOWCOCK in consideration of sum of five pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by said STORKE, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto JOHN STORKE his heirs all that tract of land containing two hundred and fifty acres lying near MATTOX CREEK, part of which being a part of the WHITE OAK SWAMP, given and bequeathed to him in and by the Last Will and Testament of his Father, JAMES BOWCOCK, the said Will bearing date the 12 day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred forty one two, and the two hundred fifty acres of land is in Washington Parish and Westmorland County; Begining at a red Oak standing near the Main Road leading to MATTOX BRIDGE, thence East one hundred ninety pole along the line of the land now in possession of THOMAS BOWCOCK, thence East twenty degrees South to a white Oak standing in the line of Majr. JOHN MARTIN, thence South by East forty two pole along the said line to another white Oak, thence West four hundred fifteen po. up to the back line, thence North one degree West one hundred forty pole to the begining; with all houses orchards hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever belonging; To have and to hold the land and premises with the appurtenances unto JOHN STORKE his heirs from the 28 of this instant July during the term of one whole year from thence next ensuing the date hereof fully to be compleated, paying therefore one Pepper Corn in and upon the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel if demanded to the intent that by virtue of these presents and of the Statute for trans-
      ferring uses into possession JOHN STORKE his heirs may be in the actual possession of all the land and premises with the appurtenances and thereby enabled to take a release of the reversion and inheritance thereof to him and his heirs; In Witness

      THIS INDENTURE made 29 July in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and fifty five; Between JAMES BOWCOCK of the Parish of Washington and County of Westmorland of one part and JOHN STORKE of the same County and Parish of other part; Witnesseth that JAMES BOWCOCK in consideration of sum of one hundred and eighty seven pounds, fourteen shillings current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by JOHN STORKE, the receipt whereof JAMES BOWCOCK doth acknowledge, hath and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto JOHN STORKE his heirs two hundred and fifty acres of land, said JOHN STORKE being in actual possession whereof by virtue of a Lease made thereof and the Statute for transferring uses into possession, all that tract of land lying near MATTOX CREEK part of which is part of a place commonly called the WHITE OAK SWAMP in the Parish of Washington and County of Westmorland given and bequeathed to him by his Father, JAMES BOWCOCK, in his last Will and Testament bearing date the 12th day of March in the year of our Lord 1741/2, Begining (the bounds of the land repeated as in the foregoing Lease) To have and to hold he title claim and demand in the-land of JAMES BOWCOCK hereby sold unto JOHN STORKE his heirs, to be holden to the Cheif Lord or Lords of the Fee or Fees by the rent and services due and accustomed to be paid; And JAMES BOWCOCK doth further for himself his heirs covenant with JOHN STORKE his heirs that JAMES BOWCOCK his heirs will forever warrant and defend all of the land abovementioned with the appurtenances unto JOHN STORKE his heirs against the claim and demand of every person; In Witness whereof the party aforementioned have sett his hand and seal the day and eyar above mentioned

      Ashton to Storke Deed
      This Indenture made the twenty sixth day of April 1756 between Henry Ashton of the parish of Washington in the County of Westmoreland of the one part and John Storke of the parish and county aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that Henry Ashton in consideration of 322 pounds 10 shillings current money of Virginia paid by John Storke has sold a tract or parcel o land situate lying and being upon Nominy Creek in the parish of Cople in Westmoreland County containing 300 acres more or less and bounded easterly and southerly upon Nominy Creek, westerly upon the land formerly belonging to Richard Hawkins, Northerly upon a small creek called Kings Creek which divideth the land from a tract formerly granted to Col. Thomas Speake which said tract of land was sold and conveyed by Mr. John Sturman to Col. Henry Ashton by indenture having date the fifth of October 1712, and by Henry Ashton in his last will and testament bearing date the twenty sixth day of February , 1730 given and devised in fee simple to his son John Ashton, who dying an infant under the age of 21 years without issue the said tract descended to the said Henry Ashton as heir at law to the said John. In witness whereof the said Henry Ashton together with Jane Ashton his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.
