      Feby. 23, 1770. Fielding Lewis of Spts. Co., Esqr., "for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which he hath and beareth unto" John Lewis of Spts. Co., Esqr., as also in pursuance of an agreement made with John Thornton of Caroline Co., Esqr., in consideration of a marriage then intended to be solemnized between the sd. John Lewis and Lucy Thornton, daughter of sd. John Thornton (which marriage has lately been solemnized), etc. All those lands whereon sd. Jno. Lewis now lives, purchased by scl. Fielding Lewis, Esqr., of. Charles Lewis, Esqr., in Spts. Co., for and during the lifetime of the sd. Fielding Lewis, etc. Witnesses, Chs. Washington, Geo. Weedon, Henry Crutcher. Augt. 16, 1770.

Lewis with his late wife, Lucy, dau. of John Thornton of Caroline Co., Gent., etc., etc., whereas, a marriage is shortly to be had between the sd. John Lewia and Elizabeth, daughter of the late Honble. Presley Thornton, Esqr., to the sd. John, the tract of land purchased of Charles Lewis, and whereon sd. John Lewis now lives, for and during the term of the natural lives of sd. Fielding Lewis and Betty, his wife, etc., also from and after the deaths of sd. Fielding and Betty Lewis, all that part of the tract of land adjoining the town of Fredksbg.; also ten slaves, etc., etc. Witnesses, John Glassell, Alexr. Wright, Beverley Daniel. March 21, 1771.
