Oct 3, 1752 from Alexr Smith Hawkins of CC, planter, to William Wates of St. Mary's County, Gent, and Sarah Smith Wates, his wife, for 30,000 lbs of tobacco and for the natural love which sd Alexr has for his sd son & daughter, William & Sarah Smith Wates, he gives them all that tract of land called Coombs' purchase, lying in CC, and bounded by the original survey, the land of Courts Keech formerly the land of John Courts, containing and laid out for about 150 acres.
