      Jun 24, 1728 from William Godfrey of Stafford County, Virginia, to Thomas Davis of CC, planter, for 6150 lbs of tobacco in cask and for divers other good causes, all that tract of land called The Remainder, lying in CC, bounded by the 2nd bound tree of Humphrey Posey's land, a branch near Chicquamuxon Road, containing and laid out for about 375 acres. Signed - Willm Godfrey. Wit - Wm Stone*,: Robt Hanson*. This deed was acknowledged by William Godfrey. And with him came John Manning, attorney in fact for Jennet Godfrey, wife of the sd William (as appears by a power of attorney under the hand and seal of Sd Jennet, dated Tura 22 instant) and likewise acknowledged Jennet's right of dower to the within mentioned land and premises.
