1774-1780 Prince George's County, Maryland Land Records Liber CC 2 [Abstract by Mike Marshall]; Page 335. At the request of David Beall the following Deed was recorded March 26, 1777
Indenture made February 4, 1777; whereas Thomas Butt did on October 24, 1770 convey unto Richard Henderson all that tract of land conveyed to the said Thomas Butt by Jeremiah Belt, Jr. being part of a tract called "Arthur's Seat Enlarged" containing 103 acres as by Liber AA No. 2, folio 196 and whereas Richard Henderson, merchant did execute a deference in the following words; Thomas Butt having by deed of bargain and sale conveyed to me this day 103 acres of land being part of a tract called Arthur's Seat Enlarged for the consideration of 79 pounds 4 shillings current money and also the costs of the deed in other just claims which either John Glassford, Esq. my constituent or myself may hereafter have against Thomas Butt with legal interest on the same. Witness my hand and seal this October 24, 1770, Richard Henderson and whereas in the year 1773 Thomas Butt contracted with David Beall to sell him the land for the sum of 196 pounds common currency and afterwards the said Thomas Butt in the presence of two witnesses, John Rogers and Thomas Gordon, Jr. signed the following writing, December 8, 1773, I have received from Richard Henderson in money 77 pounds 4 shillings and 9 pence and my death to him is 118 pounds 15 shillings and 3 pence being 196 pounds in full of my contract with David Beall for my land which the said Henderson is to convey to the said Beall. Now this indenture witnesseth that Richard Henderson in consideration of what is aforesaid and also in consideration of 5 shillings has sold unto David Beall the aforesaid tract of land conveyed to him by the said Richard Henderson by Thomas Butt. Signed Richard Henderson in the presence of and acknowledged before Joshua Beall, Christopher Lowndes and at the same time Sarah Henderson wife of Richard Henderson relinquished her right of dower
