In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this February 22, 1785, James Mockbee in the presence of Samuel Hepburn, Jane Hepburn and acknowledged before Samuel Hepburn

      I Joseph Mockbee in consideration of 14 pounds current money paid by John Ridgway have sold Negro boy Tom; provided nevertheless that if Joseph Mockbee shall pay unto John Ridgway there aforesaid sum with legal interest at or before October 20, 1793 then this instrument of writing to be void. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this December 17, 1791, Joseph Mockbee in the presence of and acknowledged before David Craufurd, associate judge of PGCo, Samuel Hepburn
