May 16, 1743 from Richd Rogers of Stafford County, VA, to John Monte of CC, merchant. John Rogers, late of CC, Gent, deceased, owned a certain tract of land on Portobacco Cr, containing about 200 acres whereon the said John Rogers dwelt. By his will, sd John gave the tract to his son, Rhodam Rogers, and in case of his death, to his son, Richard, party to these presents, and in case of the death of the said Richard, then to his son, John Rogers, and in case of his death, to the nearest of blood. Said Jno Rogers is dead, and afd Rhodam Rogers is long absent and not heard from .. Now this deed witnesses that the said Rich'd Rogers, for 80 £current money of Virginia and 7000 pounds of merchantable Maryland tobacco, all the plantation, tract, or parcel of land above-mentioned.
