      This Indenture made the fifteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty three Between RICHARD HODGES and ELIZABETH his wife of the County Essex and parish of Southfarnham of the one part and THOMAS CROXTON of the same County and parish aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said RICHARD HODGES and ELIZABETH his wife for and in consideration of the sum of ninety pounds six shillings current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said THOMAS CROXTON before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they the said RICHARD HODGES and
      ELIZABETH his wife doth acknowledge and themselves where with fully satisfied contented and paid and their of and every paid their of doth hereby acquit and discharge him the said THOMAS CROXTON his heirs Executors or Administrators and every of them by these presents hath given granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain enfeoff and confirm unto him the said THOMAS CROXTON and to his heirs and assigns forever all the Estate right title interest claim & demand whatsoever which now is or shall ever hereafter become or grow due to them the said RICHARD HODGES and ELIZABETH his wife their heirs Executors Administrators of in and to a certain dividend or parcel of land situate lying and being in the aforesaid County and parish of Southfarnham containing two hundred and three quarters of an acre more or less and Bounded as followeth Vizt. Beginning at a corner beach of JOHN CROXTON ruining thence SW 14d westerdly 203 poles to a corner ash standing on the north side of the Weston branch thence down the north side of the Weston branch to a white oak standing at the mouth of a branch which is called Dark thence cross the mouth of the said branch along the north side of the Weston branch to a corner white
      oak thence cross the said Weston branch to a beach standing on the east side thence N 40d E 144 poles to a ash standing by the side of a small branch thence down the said branch to a corner white oake standing by the side of a swamp thence up the said swamp several courses S:33 easterly 68 poles thence S:29 easterly 64 poles thence E 5d North 56 poles thence to the Beginning corner beach 64 poles the said land being part of
      a track of land the said RICHARD HODGES late Purchased of AUGUSTINE WASHINGTON Gent and ANN his wife as by their Deed to him theirof made and remaining amongst the records of the suretary office may and doth appear together with all houses orchards gardens meadows feedings pastors ways water and water
      courses woods and under woods and other the profits commodities hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging and appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders thereof To have and to hold the said land premises and all and singular the appurtenances hereby given or intended to be given granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed & confirmed unto him the said THOMAS
      CROXTON to the only proper uses behoof of the said THOMAS CROXTON his heirs and assigns forever sufficiently saved kept harmless and indemnified of and from all other gifts grants bargains sails leases jointures dowers intailes wills: Debts: Suits Judgments Executions or any other Incumbrances whatsoever had made committed done or suffered by him the said RICHARD HODGES or any other person or persons whatsoever to be holden to our sovereign Lord the King his heirs Successors by the Quiet Rents Accustomed and do warrant the same from the said RICHARD HODGES and ELIZABETH his wife our heirs Executors Administrators or from all and every other person or persons whatsoever claiming or to claim any right or title to any part or parcel of the above granted premises and for the further and more better assuring the Title thereof the said RICHARD HODGES and ELIZABETH his wife doth for themselves their heirs Executors Administrators promise and
      agree to and with said THOMAS CROXTON his heirs and assigns that they the said RICHARD HODGES and ELIZABETH his wife their heirs Executors Administrators shall and will aft any time hereafter do make or acknowledge or cause to be done made and acknowledge to him the said THOMAS CROXTON his heirs or assigns all such lawful] and reasonable deeds writings or conveyances whatsoever by him the said
      THOMAS CROXTON his heirs or assigns or by his or their Counsell Learned in the law shall be reasonable devised tendered or required. In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have Interchangeably set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written.

      That on the fifteenth day of November one thousand seven hundred & fifty three possession of the lands and premises within mentioned was given and delivered by RICHARD HODGES & ELIZABETH his wife by Turf and Twigg in Lieu of the whole to the within mentioned THOMAS CROXTON according to the true intent and meaning of the within written deed in presence of

      Received the fifteenth day of November 1753 of THOMAS CROXTON the sum of ninety pounds and six shillings current money of Virginia the full consideration money within mentioned. RICHARD HODGES [seal]

      At a Court held for Essex County at Tappa: on the 20th day of November Anno Dom 1753. RICHARD HODGES & ELIZABETH his wife she being first privately examined by JAMES MILLS Gent. & voluntarily assenting thereto acknowledged this Deed of Feoffment Indented with the Livery of Seizen & receipt thereon Indented to THOMAS CROXTON to be their proper Acts & Deeds which is ordered to be recorded & is trulyrecorded.
