IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I JOSEPH GATEWOOD being sick & weake in body but sound & perfect memory thanks be to Almighty God for the same but considering the frailties and uncertainty of this Life do make & ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner & form following.
Item I give & bequeath to my loving Sister CATHREN GATEWOOD my Neger Sue to her & her hares for ever and my horse Coffe.
Item I give & bequeath to my loving Brother JOHN GATEWOOD one hhds of Tobacco and fore dear skins & my gunn to him and his hares.
Item I give & bequeath to my loving Brother WILLIAM GATEWOOD the last suit of Cloaths I have gott.
Item I give to my loving Brother ISAAC GATEWOOD two heiffers, six plates, one bason, one dish & my Sear Sucker Jackett & Breeches.
Item I give & bequeath to my loving Brother PHELLOPE GATEWOOD one cowe a sow beagg with peage my new Bead Rouge blankett & a pr. of shears made out of my new lining a pot & a pann and a Hatt.
Item I give & bequeath to my loving Brother RICHARD GATEWOOD my mild mare bridle & sadle and new coats and a Hatt.
Item my desire is that the first child that my negro Sue brings that my Sister MARY GATEWOOD shall have it, the second to my Sister ANNEY GATEWOOD, the third to my Sister WINIFRED GATEWOOD to them & their heirs forever.
Item my desire is that my two Sisters Mary Gatewood & Anney Gatewood have & each of them a Ring when this you see remember me Joseph Gatewood,
Item I give & bequeath to my Father JOHN GATEWOOD my negro James and all the rest of my Estate.
Item I constitute and opint my loveing Father John Gatewood to be my hole and Soule Executor of this my last will & Testament as Witnessss hand & Seale this ninth day of November 1733.
